🏈 Bama vs Ole Miss----Game Day Thread

Alabama didn't need to show any more of the offense than they did. it is best to not give up any more knowledge to our opponents. the stupid commentator kept insinuating that AJ couldn't stretch the field or be the guy to carry the team. that was disappointing.... and ignorant. i kept thinking.. maybe he should watch some tape of the NC game.

there will be games where Bama needs to whip it out. this wasn't one of them.

good win

Saving the real gameplan for Tennessee!!

Just a down night, the whole top 10 was unimpressive. LSU is looking more and more like it might get upset if they play a team with a quality defense and a potent offense.

Perplexing might be the word? While I don't get hung up on what announcers and commentators say about football I do take notice: can't help it.

If there is one thing I don't understand it's how Matt Millen has been around football so long in his career and yet knows so little about what he's covering.

I've tried to understand him. I've also given up.

As fans we get bored with the blowout wins and frustrated when we aren't moving the ball easily lol.

i knew Ole Miss would come in with a chip on their shoulder. They played hard and physical from the start so I admire that in a team. It was a good test for our teams chemistry. There were several times during the game where we made some mental mistakes that could of easily swung all the momentum to the Ole Miss sidelines, but we remained calm and just kept chipping away.

Our offense play calling was a strange one compared to Nuss's previous games this season. I know OM was stacking the box and selling out for the run but I'm not sure why we didn't stretch the field more. Our WR's appeared to have a ton more size on them and just more physical. I don't usually buy into the whole holding back our play book thing but maybe that was his plan. It just seemed to be a different looking offensive scheme out there with all that dink 'n dunking going on.mi could understand doing it to wear down a defense .....but we did it all game.

FWIW this was the most entertaining win we've had all season I think. Sure the blowout wins are great but they are boring once a defense has given up and we just gash them over and over. There were times in this game that I thought we might lose so at least this one was competitive to watch. One key thing I wish we could of accomplished was that goal line stand. I know it's Ole Miss but having that in our back pocket for this young team would of been huge experience. Maybe they will get another chance but win that battle next time. They can learn from it either way.

Roll Tide 5-0

I noticed it too but paid no mind because of the source... Matt Millen has been running his mouth about this very thing since before the season. He said after week 1 or two that McCarron is our biggest weakness and that Oregon was the true #1 and hes just trying to defend his words now (since hes been saying it over and over on College Football Live). McCarron not going down the field last night was his way of "proof." You can tell Millen watches very little film in preparation for a game.

Ole Miss was bailing there safeties on the snap virtually taking away any deep throws. AJ took what was given, the underneath stuff. The crossing routes are great against man but we were often caught running them into zone blitzes, that is why we had several receivers take some pounding as soon as the ball was caught. Ole Miss played some great defense and forced the action. Alot of times, a team that is a 30 pt dog can play more carefree and relaxed. Saw someone make a comment about injuries being a result of not going full speed. That comment doesn't hold water when talking about DeAndrew or Dee and their going down with possible knee injuries. DeAndrew was blocking downfield when he went down and Dee was trying to make a play on a punt return. Neither one was standing around watching the action. Ole Miss will give some teams fits with their faster than fast up tempo offensive style. I'd look for them to get Arky, get the Barn, get Vandy, possibly get Miss St. and give Lswho all they want and then some.

Yeah whoever said that "standing around" crap is talkin outta their a** if you dont mind me saying... The two you mentioned plus Ed got rolled up from behind it looked like and Beleu hurt his shoulder on the interception he made (yeah thats really "standing around" since he went up about 10 feet in the air to pick it off) and Lester's brief injury was on his INT return (tho he came right back).

Birdman, while I didn't mean literally standing around, I'm glad you got my point. All of the guys that suffered some sort of injury were hurt while going hard, making plays. None of them were going half-assed or watching someone else make a play. Injuries happen. I believe that when it is your time, it's just your time!
