🏈 bama vs auburn thread

too close game. ingram should be fine, just a hip pointer. richardson, arenas, jones, peek, upchurch came to play

good win. finally back from that cow college....too much orange and blue for me to last a while....roll tide ......stayed after and watched the players get on the bus. mal moore had to tell peek, "come on colin, the bus is gonna leave you"

too funny

Other than the obvious thrill of beating our in state rival, this game gives me the satisfaction of knowing that even Auburn's best is not good enough. Not good enough to beat Bama on a bad day, much less a good day.
Smoke and mirrors, trick plays, fake kicks...whatever. All of that crap was an act of utter desperation by a team who KNEW they did not have the talent or depth to stand toe to toe with Bama. I find their whole gameplan was pathetic and appalling. Onsides kick in the first quarter?!?! Gimme a break. Did Chizik and Malzhan steal a playbook from Houston Nutt or what?

After reading comments on some of the barn forums, I just reinforced my utter hate and disgust of anything that is Auburn. They are spewing about the refs bad calls?!? Gimme a break. Hey, at least we didn't have a 12th man on our team wearing zebra stripes and a U on his back like they did. Geesh. Barner logic never ceases to amaze me.

In closing, I would like to say this to all the Barners everywhere...

I am holding up two fingers for ya...wanna guess which two? ;)

Sorry to chime in now, but I just noticed this thread.

Where in the recent past have I seen another coach exhibit "utter desperation" by using an onside kick in the first quarter of a game? Somebody help me out?

Oh, yeah, Nick Saban using the surprise of an onside kick on the opening kick of the game versus Tennessee in 2007.

Was Saban sending the message his team could not "stand toe to toe" with that Tennessee team? Or was he sending a message to HIS team that the staff will do anything to win that particular game?

While risky, and I would not like to see my coach do it every game, I liked the idea when Saban did it and when The Barn did it. And, in my opinion, the effort by The Barn was much less a risky proposition than when Saban tried it in 2007. If it backfired on Auburn last fall, they would have still had a one-touchdown cushion and no one expected them to compete against that Alabama team. Had it failed on us in 2007, we would have energized an emotional underdog Tennessee team.

And in the generic, I love it when a coach always has one or two trick plays up his sleeve each and every game. Forces the opposing team to play the game a half-step slower always wondering if their keys are true or leading them into a trap. Forces the opposing team to take valuable and limited practice time to prepare for the trick plays they have already seen and for such plays they MIGHT see.

We better be prepared for the barnies this season. Last season showed that they still base their entire season on 1 game. I'm so glad that they moved the Georgia State game to a Thursday night so that we will have that extra time to prepare for what will be a better auburn team. We played horribly in the Iron Bowl last year, even though we did come back. if we stink it up again this season, well, I hate to even think about that. But, that's still a long way off.

Alagator....In regards to the onside kick. Chizik, probably saw something on film that made him think it would be successful, and it was.

I know in the post game show of the 07 UT/Bama game, Saban stated that he saw on film that they would have a good chance at recovery if they executed.

Same can be said about the 02 Bama/OU game. We started that game off with an onside kick and it proved successful.
