I have to say that Urban Meyer was one of the best if not THE best thing that ever happened to the University of Utah football program. Actually after a couple of bourbons tonight, no, he was the best thing that ever happened to the U.

That out of the way I have to preface this with my thought that I wish Urban no ill will personally unlike a very large part of our fanbase. Yes he lied about wanting to live in Salt Lake City and "teaching his son to hit a curve ball" but when it came down to it he made the right choice.

However I plan to sit myself down, crack open a beer and glue myself to the SEC championship game this Saturday and cheer 100% without regret for the University of Alabama.

Your fans that we met in a few short days in New Orleans sold me on 'bama. They were great people. Obviously many of them were naive about Utah as I would expect. There was only one that I would qualify as a "dillhole' he actually gave us one of the funniest moments in New Orleans http://utefans.net/message.php?id=762105#message762105.

But I digress. What summed your fans up was one gentleman that stood outside the portal of the Superdome. We had celebrated with a few friends and needed to get back to our bus. Yes we were some of the people that rode 38 hours on a bus to get there. Again I digress. This gentleman summed up the older Alabama fan. His khaki pants, white shirt, crimson blazer and his Bear Bryant hat spoke volumes of his years of loyalty to UA.

He was standing by the exit and was making a point of shaking hands with as many Utah fans as he could. His line for all of us was, "Y'all whooped our ass tonight. Congratulations." After that I knew who my other team would be this year and for years to come.

So as much as I love Urban and what he did to elevate Utah to the point where it is now?

ROLL TIDE ROLL! Kick some Gator ass!

My Mom attended Utah for a year or two, so I gotta little Ute blood in me. For the most part, I enjoyed ya'll's fans as well (we all have the dill holes in the mix). Glad to know we got you on our side as you seem like a good one to have. Roll Tide Roll, and Go Utes!

Great thread and lot's of class on your part. Your always welcome here and Saturday your one of us! RTR!

PS.
Sorry I was messed up that night. She threatened me but I wasn't scared, my mom taught me not to hit girls. Ok maybe a little scared. :)

That was a great post and thanks for taking the time to share your BAMA fan experience. I'd like to think we have good fans. The one's I know on this board are some of the best people out there and you would have a beer with any of them and they would make you feel welcome. I hated to hear that some our fans have "elevated their game" a bit this year. I think it's some of our younger fans that aren't used to winning yet. Guys around my age have just missed winning. We have certainly been there before and I just appreciate the hell out of being back!

We have a resident Ute on our board that actually has attended a BAMA game this year.I am sure he will be by to introduce himself.

Thanks for coming by and thanks for pulling for the Tide this weekend. I like that it is for the "right" reason too. That's pretty cool.

Classy post - we love the Utah fans on this Board!! And I, like so many others here, are now firmly entrenched Utah fans as well! We need all the positive vibes we can get this weekend, so spread the word......GO BAMA, ROLL TIDE!!!!
