🏈 Bama coaching changes for 2021

Why is Sark saying he not sorry for going for Bama coaches staff? I was thinking every time one of Coach Saban lose one, these coaches always has taking some with them. I know CKS did.

@TerryP because they are the best candidate or to appease the political people? I sure hope not the latter.

It's a really good idea to get guys who relate well to the players. Not saying non-minorities can't, Butch Jones was a great example of a guy all the players loved. A really good example of the divide is Kuligowski vs. Roach. But having minority coaches when your team is filled with minority players is really important at a place like Alabama (or the SEC in general). And yes, while it may seem minor, it would be used against UA in recruiting if they lacked minority coaches.

Minority hires are not just about political correctness. It looks like any of these coaches would be great hires. All great talents. Having diversity in the coaching staff, which brings different perspectives and experiences to the table is a good thing. It also brings difference points of connection for the players. Just my 2¢.

Building a little on what @Brandon Van de Graaff said ...

Within days of Saban's hire in January of '07 he said he wanted a minority as the receptionist (and other areas around the football building like that position) to be filled with minorities. He specifically stated he wanted people (recruits and their families) to be comfortable as soon as they entered the building. The athletic department doesn't need a Jane Hathaway type greeting everyone.

I agree with diversity but not as an appeasement to the political people. I believe the diversity is very healthy and understand the part about relating to the players but they need to know what they are doing. If so go for it. It should also be part of the job description - "Demonstrated history of relating well to players". As someone said Butch Jones qualified for that but he can't make himself a minority. He would be discriminated against if it was purely based on skin color.

So we're down to the ST coach opening. Did we ever get the official hired deal on the OL coach?

I don't think any of the hires other than O'Brien have had official releases yet. It'll probably come after the last hire. Jay Graham appears to the the leader in the clubhouse for the TE/ST spot.
