šŸ€ Bama BB v. UCLA

That was one of the many games that got away from us late. We led for much of the game, and it was still tied with a minute to go before we lost by seven. Hopefully we can pack Coleman out for that one and really have the place rocking.

The rest of the non conference schedule is not yet completed, but we will host USF and visit Xavier and Wichita State as part of home and home arrangements from last year.

Doubt Coleman will be even half full for this one. Should have beaten them last year at UCLA, but couldn't pull it out just like all the other games. I like our chances with Kessen's and Taylor inside, but other than Hale, there is no true shooter yet. The incoming transfers and recruits will have to prove themselves.

Will probably make this one if my Daughter and Son-in-law go. If Bama recognizes the '82-'83 team that won at #1 UCLA, then I know we will be there. He was a member of that team and played a big role in the win over UCLA. One of his few starts at Bama, he shut down the UCLA Center, which was a key to winning.

If I recall correctly, Buck Johnson was suspended for that game, and big Mark played a lot. 31 years ago. Where did the years go?

The UCLA game was one of Mark's 3 starts that year. He also started 4 games in his last year, '84-'85. Bama was 7-0 in his career starts. I don't think Wimp ever realized, although he was giving up some production in the middle with Mark starting at Center, that he had the best Forward tandem in college basketball with Buck Johnson and Bobby Lee Hurt.

Wimp thought more of Terry Williams than many did. Terry could shoot, but he was so thin he made Derrick McKey look like a body builder. He did have three excellent guards on that team in Davis, Richardson and Whatley , and he liked to have them all on the court at the same time. I could understand playing them with Buck and Bobby Lee with those three, but to me we were a much better line up that year with Mark on the floor than with Terry.
