Not quite yet. This is sort of ironic ... had this very conversation with a guy last night.The Pac 12 has stopped playing FCS teams. So has the Big 12 and Big 10. That leaves SEC and ACC as holdouts. I expect this to get legislated out of all power 5 conferences soon enough. Somebody needs to save North Carolina from themselves.
Take Baylor from the Big12 for one example. They opened their season last week against Northwestern StateāFCS school. The schedules are beginning to work these FCS schools out, but not quite yet.
Hereās a season-by-season look at scheduled games against FCS opponents over the past decade:
- ACC: 14 in 2016, 16 in 2015, 13 in 2014, 16 in 2013, 13 in 2012, 13 in 2011, 13 in 2010, 14 in 2009, 14 in 2008 and 7 in 2007, for a total of 133.
- SEC: 14 in 2016, 13 in 2015 (one wasnāt played), 14 in 2014, 14 in 2013, 15 in 2012, 12 in 2011, 11 in 2010, 11 in 2009, 9 in 2008 and 9 in 2007, for a total of 122.
- Big Ten: 8 in 2016, 7 in 2015, 12 in 2014, 10 in 2013, 8 in 2012, 10 in 2011, 10 in 2010, 9 in 2009, 9 in 2008 and 8 in 2007, for a total of 91.
- Big 12: 8 in 2016, 8 in 2015, 7 in 2014, 9 in 2013, 9 in 2012, 6 in 2011, 8 in 2010, 9 in 2009, 10 in 2008 and 8 in 2007, for a total of 82.
- Pac-12: 8 in 2016, 8 in 2015, 8 in 2014, 9 in 2013, 9 in 2012, 8 in 2011, 7 in 2010, 4 in 2009, 2 in 2008 and 2 in 2007, for a total of 65
