The University of Alabama gymnastics team will travel to Auburn this Saturday to take on the Tigers and four other teams in the NCAA regional. The Crimson Tide will be attempting to qualify for its 33rd consecutive NCAA Championship meet. To do so, it will need to finish either first or second against No. 2 seed Auburn, No. 3 seed Minnesota, Iowa, Maryland and George Washington.

Alabama has won 29 NCAA regional titles, the most in the nation, including the last 10 in a row. The team returns two individual NCAA regional titlists from 2014: junior Lauren Beers on vault and sophomore Aja Sims on balance beam.

The Crimson Tide returns to Auburn for a regional competition for the second time in program history. Alabama last competed in an NCAA regional in Auburn in 1991. Current head coach Dana Duckworth, then Alabama gymnast Dana Dobransky, was a sophomore on that team, which won the regional and went on to win the national championship.

For the first time this season, Alabama will compete in a meet with rotational byes. Like all No. 1 seeds, Alabama will begin the meet on uneven bars, go to balance beam, take a bye, compete on floor exercise, close on vault and finish the meet on its second bye of the night. Rotations for regional championships are determined by a random draw applied to every seeded team in the nation.
