🏀 Auburn vs Alabama.

Okay... You know best.

The loss had nothing to do with him being in the game...unless he was the one who left barners wide open on the perimeter all night.

We are limited on offensive we need guys who can score and half the time when he gets a rebound under the basket he can't score. He has to throw it back out. At his size he should be able to go up and put the ball in the basket but he can't.

I don't disagree with any of that. He threw it back out a few times tonight. And I wondered why in hell he didn't just put it back up.

Tonight, the barn shot over 50% from the arc, which was pretty easy since their shooters were wide open so much. They scored nearly 50 points from 3's.

...And then we couldn't hit jack from the arc, especially in the second half.

He has no confidence.

When you start a game against your most hated opponent, telegraphing lazy passes for t.o after t.o, four or five to's in the first six or seven minutes.
Couple that with poor foul shooting and you set yourself up for a loss most games. Besides that, our taller lineup was no match for their smaller and much quicker lineup, who tonight could throw a peanut in a damn dixie cup from thirty feet more often than not.

It's difficult for me to believe that I honestly thought this team might make some sort of run in the NIT.

Let's hope our newly hired baseball coach can salvage the spring for men's sports. And yeah, I know the track team is highly regarded.

At least women's softball and spring football practice are right around the corner. How do I know? Butch Jones didn't see his shadow; that's how.

UGLY in every sense of the word.

No. Not ugly, Mike. These numbers are what any coach would call a thing of beauty.

Going with that for a minute ... how many teams in the NIT are going to put up those numbes in the tourney? Maybe, maybe, we'd see in three times in the entire NIT tourney?

It's been a few days since this team lost to UArk. Arkansas didn't have as high of a percentage on three's but I know they were pretty damn close to 50% as well.

No need to say something about the need for improvement in that area. I'm guessing the Tide is probably in the bottom third in defending the three, while being in the top third in scoring defense. Weird if true but I suspect it is. (Someone feel like looking that up?)

Consider this. We know it's a team that's built to run inside, then out. We know it's a bigger lineup than what we're used to seeing. How much of the way this current roster is built leads to these issues?

@TerryP with much respect I disagree on two points, Free Throw % and defense. 13-22 from the FT line is not good at the college level or even high school. Auburn had too many easy, open looks on offense.

The 13-22 above is AU's FT% that night. And you're right, that's horrid. Bama didn't shoot much better that night and only a little better on the season. It is an issue.

Mike, I would look at the highlighted numbers.

Exactly. It's hard for any team to win when your opponent is putting up those numbers. Hell, in the two game series with Auburn their three percentage is higher than this past game. Arkansas was going nuts from behind the arc ...

@alabama mike Defense ... there's part of the point. They're playing with a bigger lineup, one that's a bit depleted as it is, and they've had a few games where they've been killed outside. That's what UK did.

UofSC is big on outside defense ... but that's another thread.

As a former HS coach, coached it all, including basketball, I would have loved to see 45% or better from the field, both 2's and 3's. Also wanted 70% or better from FT line. No telling how many games I saw lost by 7 or fewer and you see all of those FREE points wasted because of piss poor execution at the charity stripe!!! Damn!!! I remember how much I hate it now!!! Need my Rolaids!!!
