šŸˆ Auburn hires Bryan Harsin as head coach.

Cristobal has no competition outside of USC and his facilities are second to none. IF USC would gain some consistency about them, I believe you would see the PAC 12 getting some serious consideration for the CFP.
USC is pretty consistent at scoring at the end and pulling out a win.....all be it against some pretty crappy teams (One that only lost 70 - 7 this past week). :p

Multiple connected auburn people are saying (and reporting) that auburn president Gogue wants to have an actual "search", rounds of interviews, etc. The power players that just raised the money to send Gus packing, want Steele promoted to head coach ASAP. Gogue is leaning to having a search, but the pressure on him to name Steele HC is heavy. Wednesday being the early (and main) signing day is playing into this. Safe to say, the longer it drags on, the more likely that they will hold a true search. Gogue is in a tight spot though. If he holds a search, and doesn't hire Steele, and it doesn't work out, well.... On the other hand, giving into the demands of boosters on decisions like this is the very thing they need to move away from. Also, pretty telling that AD Allen Greene is having little to no role in all of this. It's Gogue vs. the $ Guys. Here's to hoping they screw it up in the worst way possible...

It's Auburn, how could they not? :)

There's always the blind squirrel and the nut theory... Honestly, I don't think they hire Steele. I just can't get past the fact you pay Gus that much money to leave, then turn around and hire Steele (a guy off his staff). I don't even think auburn is that dysfunctional. This is a rare case where I believe the longer this drags out, the better off they'll be.

On the other hand that's 3 million they don't have to pay out as well as several of the "Auburn guys" they'd save money on (and keep as much of the Dye crew in place as possible.)

Sanders is echoing the search committee story as well as following it up with "it may be as soon as today" for Steele. He's also said the decision to hire Steele was already made until Gogue spoke up.

What's beautiful about this is reading Gogue wants faculty members on the search committee. It reminds me of Joab.

If they went with Mario I'm guessing they'd spent around 40 million before they even get to his contract.

The "available" coaches list is endless too. Mason, Sumlin, Smith, probably Franklin too if they get pressured (which I'm sure they will) to hire an African American coach. I agree with you on bumping Steel up to HC .... IMO..... that would be a disaster, but I'm o.k. with that. :p

Steele to me feels like Tuberville 2.0. Have never been overly impressed with him but he isn’t bad by any stretch as a DC. I hope they do hire him. Don’t want them mucking this up and accidentally get it right. Steele is their guy.
