🏈 Attrition around Alabama and a few in the SEC...

I caught an article in the last few days about Kiffin's class the year he was at UT. I don't recall the number signed, but do recall the article mentioning on eight of those players are still in school in Knoxville.

A day later there was a note about the first two classes Chizik signed at Auburn and how only a bit over 40% of those were still on campus. (His last signed class is doing better to date)

Then, I ran across this post on another forum. A guy went to the point of putting together a few numbers.

Good Stuff.

Was reading the thread regarding Chizik's first two classes at *U (2009, 2010), and how 43% of the commits from those classes are no longer with them. Someone posed the question, How many of Bama's last three classes are still around? So I did a little digging.

Amazingly enough, especially considering all the BS thrown around about how CNS 'processes' recruits, 86.5% of the recruits from those classes either finished at Bama or are still part of the program. Not sure how many major D1 Universities could match that.

Good ammo to have next time a boog or a dawg starts talking smack!

Here is the breakdown by class:

2009: 26 Commits Total, 16 are still in the program, 3 finished at Bama and are in the NFL or NFL bound (Trent, Dre, Carpenter), and 7 left the program early.
Mike Marrow
: Mike had several deaths in his family back home so he requested a transfer to East Michigan to be closer to his family 6/09. He since transferred to Nebraska.
Rod Woodson Jr.: Found himself buried on the depth chart and requested a transfer to North Alabama 8/10
Darrington Sentimore: Ended up in CNS' doghouse, and transferred to Mississippi Gulf Coast CC 8/11. Has committed to play for UcheaT in 2012.
Petey Smith: Lack of playing time at Bama prompted him to transfer to Holmes CC 6/11
Brandon Moore: Got himself into the permament doghouse and transferred to JuCo 6/11. Has since committed to play at Texas.
Kendall Kelly: Was not in good health his senior year of HS or his freshman year at Bama. Had heat issues in Fall of 09, and was still unable to participate in Spring of 10. Was put on medical scholly.
Darius McKeller: Ended up on a Medical in 2010. In 2011 he transferred to USA.

2010: 26 Commits Total, as of now, 22 are still in the program, 1 is bound for the NFL (Menzie), and 3 left the program early:
Corey Grant
: Couldn't get past fifth string on Bama's depth chart, and being a boog at heart xferred to *U last summer.
Alfy Hill: This guy moves around more than a mob witness in a protection program. He couldn't qualify at Bama so went to Itawampa CC. Has since been to East Carolina, LA Valley CC, and could be at USCe this upcoming season.
Keiwone Malone: Got into Saban's doghouse last Spring and decided it would be in his best interest to transfer to Memphis.

2011: 22 Commits Total, 21 of which are still with the program, and one (Aaron Douglas) has passed away.

Pretty small attrition rate considering you have to have 15% attrition over a four year period if signing full classes each year (4 x 25=100 - 15% = 85)

Really puts into perspective compared to the depth constructed by Saban right now. It's something to behold gentlemen...
