🏈 Arkansas Game Thread

Why has Bama still got starters in the game? Jalston Fowler got hurt---and lost for the year---in the fourth quarter last week with Bama up big against an outmatched opponent. I'd like to see a MASSIVE emptying of the bench, if it hasn't started yet.

Hey you got your wish early. CNS was reading your post. We still got a first down:hyper:

Yeah, Devall just got a sack and I've never heard his name before. Finally getting a lot of non-starters some playing time.

Let's put this in perspective.

There's a limit to the number you can take on the road in SEC play: I believe it's 65.

Minus three kickers.
Minus three quarterbacks.

Let's just say we have 60, divide by two now we have 30 on both sides of the ball.

In the third when you mentioned this I had seen over a dozen play combinations on defense alone. We've been playing back-ups since early on. But, not in a few positions IE: Quarterback.

BUT, when you are playing kids at WR who are realistically our seventh and eighth plus guys off the bench you want those kids getting reps with the starter. Same thing needs to be applied when considering who is on OL with the back-up QB.

It's not as easy as "we're up by 35, let's mass sub." There's still seven SEC games left, plus post season. They need the time.

This game is to the point I'll have to use a basketball analogy.

You know how the crowd and bench cheer when the token player gets a basket?

I'd like to see Howell score...but Sims beat him to it. Oh well.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know you had to take so many less players on the road games.

Wow....feel sorry for Arkansas, hope for the best for their program...Have to think though, what will they do next year? Both Wilson and Knile Davis graduate, and they will be with a new HC. Not a good future for Arkansas

Arkansas has a TERRIBLE defense! Yes, Bama is outstanding in every phase of the game. But Arkansas has had back-to-back weeks where there defense played HORRIBLE. And it was in their own back yard. That team looks FUBAR.

Me too. Is he fifth team or sixth team? I know there is Lacy, Yeldon, Hart and Drake.

Walk-on, senior, fifth stringer but more accurately a scout team guy.

Going back to our earlier conversation, that means Saban left a scholly player at home so Howell could make the trip.

That was the reason I wanted him to score. Him being on the scout team. And he played his heart out on every play he was in.
