šŸ“” Arena Football ceases operations, files Chapter 7 bankruptcy

Writing has been on the wall for awhile. This is the second time the AFL has shut down and I don't see there being another run for them. When they shut down the first time, it was never the same. They just tried to expand too quickly after they finally started finding success and making money. I mean they went from being a small little league that had a solid fan base, good TV deals to suddenly having two developmental leagues, like 30 teams, magazines, video games, insane amounts of merchandise, trading cards, etc. and then almost overnight they were shut down. I never like seeing a football league shut down so this def. sucks.

My nephew follow the Jacksonville Sharks. Him and his wife are always at these games. i think this team has won the championship for the last 3-4 years.

They left the AFL in 2017. They're in the National Arena League now. Several of the AFL teams saw the writing on the wall and left in 2017 - the Sharks, Columbus Lions, Orlando Predators - jumped to the NAL and some other teams (Arizona Rattlers) moved to another league and others (Tampa Bay Storm, Georgia Force, etc.) just shut down completely.

Didn't know there was a different.

Was the AFL considered the major league, so to speak, in the sport of indoor football? Sometimes I’ll catch a livestream on YouTube of a game in one of the other leagues. And the home crowds seem so much more into it than the AFL crowds did.

Yes, up until probably 2017 it was the "big boy" pretty much. At one point they had ESPN and TNN and NBC TV deals, video games, all kinds of stuff. That other league I mentioned pretty much took their spot and most of the better players in 2017 until now. They're talking about merging with another league that's pretty much gonna completely take AFL's spot in a year or two.
