I know this is florida week but since I haven't been on the board much I need to revisit the 4th quarter against awbarn for a post
I have been actively watching Alabama football since the '70's and I've been extremely fortunate to see some great team and individual performances. I remember watching Tony Nathan have some great moments on the field. I remember watching The Deuce do some amazing things on the football field. I remember watching Alexander have an awesome senior season, in particular the comeback over the cowturds. I was privileged to be in the stadium in '09 against SC and witness Mark Ingram taking an entire team on his shoulders and impose his will on the SC defense.
All that said (and a lot left unsaid) I don't know that I've ever been prouder of an Alabama Football player than I was of Derrick Henry last Saturday night. Particularly in the 4th quarter. I kept thinking "he has got to go to the sidelines and rest" and he just kept pounding. There was one camera shot of him after gaining 6-7 yards, he bounced up and lined right back up in position, you could literally feel the focus that he was radiating. His arm was bleeding, he had a cut on his leg, he had grass and dirt all over him from that pasture field and yet he stood poised and ready like a Spartan warrior at the gates of Thermopylae. I literally got tears in my eyes when he broke the touchdown. You couldn't script it any better than that.
We are all fortunate to have been able to be fans of such a fine young man as Derrick Henry.
just some thoughts I wanted to share.
