feel like this one was more special than '09? Whether it was Saban's pure joy, the fact that we DOMINATED an opponent that had beat us earlier this year, the opportunity to spend so much time with my Dad, or the fact that I was on Bourbon Street for 2 days straight on cloud 9......I can't quite put my finger on it :) :a:

I wasn't there but it definitely feels sweeter to me... I think it has so much to do with we ALL (and by we i mean fans, players, staff, etc.) truly believed the better team didnt win on Nov. 5 and they proved it.

Last note on this:

I am so glad this defense ended this season on this final note. Not to take away anything from the offense or special teams b/c they played a fantastic game. But for the defense to get a shutout on that stage & w/ such emphasis it did put the spotlight on how good that defense had become. If the game was closer & especially if we lost, there wouldn't have been much of any praise for that defense.

It made me very, very proud of them.

In my opinion it was much sweeter. beating a team that had beat us already. 2 sec teams in the championship. it doesn't get better than that. a shutout. and I wasnt alive during the bear bryant era. but It seems like we may be back to that. 2 in three years. wow. next year we may be a little less great next year. but it will still be a great year. and who knows what will happen. I dont put anything pass CNS!

In'09, the worst we could do was to finish second in the country to a team that is half way across the country. Granted, getting one over on Texas specifically was a good one noting our history.

But '11 was different. We could have proven that we were no better than second in our own division. Coach Saban would not have had a good arguement that he as the best coach in his own division. But with a win, the team recolored November 5th as LSU getting away with one. Firmly established the Tide as #1 in the country against a team that we have to account for every year. Placed Coach Nick Saban into the College Football Hall of Fame with a first ballot vote.

'11 is special because there was so much on the line, and this team OWNED its own future. As Coach Les Miles said to his own team "You see your path. Now go take it." The Tide didn't win it. They took it.

Hard to explain, but this one is sweeter than 2009. The game in 2009 ended with a pilgrimage to the Rose Bowl to cap off a long season with ups and downs. It was historically important for the University and for college football. First 14 win team to win a conference championship game, etc.

This year we beat down who the media had propped up as maybe one of the greatest teams of all time in their own backyard to ruin their perfect season. We all knew we had the better team, but we had to go prove it. The only close game we had was against LSU and now that we have finished them off, I think even now the media realizes that we were the superior team al along and not just a team that won a draw this year.

I went to both games and let me tell you when we won in 2009 we all stayed in the stadium a while and celebrated then that was it. We all pilled in our cars and went back to L.A. and did whatever. In NOLA every Alabama fan stayed and celebrated then took the party to Bourbon Street in a sight that you only had to eye witness to believe. Boubon was packed with nothing but Alabama fans shoulder to shoulder in a delirious celebratory atmosphere.

I know that doesn't begin to explain it but I tried.

Went to both games, different games - holding LSU to ZERO points is pretty cool - but the last 3 shutouts against LSU have come from Bama.

Beating Texas finally after a 0-7-1 record, going to the rosebowl, winning a MNC for the first time since 1992...hands down Rosebowl most memorable. Probably something to do with me living in Texas these days...
