for this season? I was thinking 8-4 or 9-3, but recently I've changed my tune. I think BAMA could be a major player in the SEC this year. I think we might all be surprised w/ the coaching job that Saint Nick will perform this season. I will not be surprised if BAMA is in the SECCG in the ATL. The mass infusion of talent plus the "coached up" kids from a year ago makes me a little bit excited. Stand by folks, we're in for a blast from the past.RTR!!!

I sticking where I was after spring ball. It all boils down to who can contribute, significantly, in the NG and DT position. We need 4 which means 2 incoming guys need to contribute.

Understand, that thought is including Zo taking a few snaps at the NG position, but moving outside when we can get other guys in the game.

Chapman makes one.
Does Motley move back?

That leaves Murphy. His coach indicates he can qualify, will/can he contribute.

Cody. Same situation.

Can Billingsley, Harbin, Williams or Lewis contribute enough to allow Zo to play inside and outside?

Can Damion Square contribute? Dareus?

A lot of questions there. But, a lot of bodies to give us a chance to really improve on the DL.

IF, we can get that rotation on the DL, it'll allow our LB group to mature with the youth.

To add one note...

Last year, my thoughts were that our offense was going to have to produce in order for us to have a chance to be competitive in the West.

We did, though not to a great degree until the suspensions took their toll. I realize that we did well, in spite of the suspensions, against UT. BUT, I can only think of one game under Fulmer when UT has been punched in the mouth and they were able to withstand that blow. (LSU game, 2-3 years ago) That on-side kick to start the game put them on their heels and they never recovered.

Now, I look around our schedule and think about the teams we might get in a shooting match with...I see one, UGA. Other than Stafford, the next best QB threat (passing) that we'll face is who?!?

At this point, I see the passing attacks at Auburn and LSU rating as a smaller threat than Casey Dick with Arkansas and Jevon Snead with Ole Miss...both dealing with what?

One of my favorite Coach Bryant stories goes like this:
When asked what he meant when he said that a player had "Potential", Coach Bryant said "...some day he can be something special, but right now he ain't worth a damn."

That said, with everyone in the West (save MSU) having HC and/or Coordinator changes, not to mention player questions, one can only say that all the teams simply have potential. All things being equal, we have a 1 in 6 chance of winning the west. But all things are not equal.

In our favor is our having CNS. In time, we win the "intangible" tie-breaker. However, I have yet to be shown that we are where we need to be to justify that. We could be, but I have not seen it yet.

Working against us are the number of road games we have against strong opponents: Away vs. top 15 teams Tennessee, LSU, and Georgia; Home vs. top 10 Auburn. Not yet proven ourselves to be winners on the road in this kind of game, I can only offer a fan's faith and wishful thinking to chalk these up as "W"s.

Until proven different, I still think we will come away with 8 wins, but will be able to hold our heads high in the loses. If the road games were home games, I would be optimistic that we would see 10 wins this year.

I just do not see it this year. We have too many holes to fill. I say 7 wins and would be overly joyed by 8. I think we could beat Auburn. I just do not see them as a top 15 team. I think we could beat Ole Miss as well but they will be improved.

Clemson - L
Tulane - W
Western Kentucky - W
Arkansas - W
Georgia - L
Kentucky - W
Ole Miss - ?
Tennessee - ?
Arkansas State - W
LSU - ?
Mississippi State - W
Auburn - ?

I think we will have our fair share of problems this year. As for offense we need some linemen period. We don't block well be 7-6 again. We've got to have some real leaders on both sides of the ball A lot depends on if we have any running game which we haven't in some time period. "Airball" Wilson has to make plays or we are really in trouble. I don't think well be in the hunt for the SEC title. We're still very young, but I would love to be wrong.

I think we have a lot of growing pains in front of us. The most important thing is we stay healthy so that we can give ourselves a better chance of winning every game. I believe we have good players at the capstone, but I don't know if some are ready to be great. Just my thoughts, as for record I'll say 8-4 to be honest as long as one of the wins is VS Barn, and Tenn. I'll say its been a good year

Check the date on this one guys. But, let's revisit it. I feel like Nostradumbass.

Season far from over my friend.

Yeah, but! Come on man, let me enjoy my one correct prediction ever. I'm not one of those in the know, so let the little man have his day in the sun!

I thought we would be 8-4, 9-3 at best. The team has really shocked a lot of people mainly the young guys. Our future looks real bright we just need to stay focused and take care of business so we can finish 14-0.
