📽 /🎵 Anybody watched any good new shows or series lately?

I watched the mini-series, Death by Lightning, on the rise and assassination of James A. Garfield. It's based on Candice Millard's outstanding book, Destiny of the Republic. Four episodes, the casting is great, and it's a little on the raunchy side. Nick Offerman as Chester A. Arthur is outstanding.

To me, that seems like a struggle to process. In my minds eye it's in the same vein as seeing Adam Sandler in a dramatic role like Reign Over Me.

GREAT movie, by the way.
There's entertainment from his role, even humor. His rise to president was even more unlikely than Garfield's. Rarely do I enjoy a TV/movie adaptation of a book I read, but this one was excellent. On the other end of the spectrum, The Boys in the Boat was disappointing, trying to cram four years of rowing into a single season.

Last night when I read that comment I thought you had mentioned that book in the past. We've had this genre pop up a few times. I looked it up and Amazon has it on one of the Black Friday deals. It was $11 something, just under $12. It'll be here Monday.

I'd watch it just to see how Offerman was in the role. I'm going to wait; but will after I finish the book.

Don't forget Thriftbooks, you can save there as well on lightly used books. Millard's River of Doubt is also great, covers Teddy Roosevelt's last election and the last physical test from which he never fully recovered.

I have that bookmarked. I was already on Amazon buying Christmas stuff... can't complain about $10 for a new hard back, any day!

I really not watch any new shows. I will tell you I have been watching a lot of BritBox, Acorn later. I will search in the You Tube for some of the older Brit show. I do like some for down under tv shows.

I just found the new series. I've been sick as a dog and the action/tenseness of EP 1 was enough for me to turn it off to come back later. I couldn't handle it AND needing rest.

Still sick...but, made it through E1 and I'm starting E2. This looks like a good one!

Night Has Fallen: 2025 has either been released or its about to be released. I've not looked to see for sure. I haven't found it streaming. It's Butler with Morgan Freeman again and this time it has the addition of Scarlett Johannson. Potential, I'd say.

The TV show Stranger Things I know it on one of the cable channel. I don't watch it, but today I saw that a man on the show was wearing this cap? It form Heflin, Al.
he hat is a vintage-style J.A. Owens Ace Hardware trucker hat, a beloved local item from a family-owned store that closed in 1988 after a fire. The appearance in the show has generated significant buzz in the small Alabama city, with replica hats being sold to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of the original store owner.

I've not watched even a clip of that series. I did see headlines where the series ratings took a huge hit last week on Rotten Tomatoes due to the latest episode. I want to say it was a 20 point drop.

I don't know the details: only the few headlines. I understand it to be another story about sexual orientation being introduced in a story line that has no bearing on the story itself.

I have not watch none of this show at all. I just got a post about the guy wearing the cap with the store on it.

This is a yes.
I'll double down on this. Hell, when there wasn't much doubt in the Oregon game yesterday I watched another episode.

I believe there are 15 in season one. I saw that season two premiers this month.
When I saw The Pitt announced I thought, "another ER."
About 10 years ago there was a medical drama title Code Black that was a take off of a documentary about the nation's busiest ER; Angles as I recall the name. I caught that series over the summer, 10 years late, but I enjoyed the show.

When I said, "another ER?" Yeah, that wasn't correct.

It's 24 and Code Black had a kid. One episode represents one hour.

The "charge nurse," Dana, is one I recognized right off the bat. I couldn't place her until looking up her bio. It was Longmire.

Weird thing. I noticed she had been married to French Stewart; ya know, the 'radio' in 3rd Rock from the Sun. Weird guy. BUT then I noticed she'd also been married to Dennis Hopper. Weird guy. Good lord, the dichotomy between those two.

I started the new The Day of the Jackal yesterday (Netflix, Flixxerz, SFlix.) Episode one made me start looking for my copy of the book. I'm though four now and it's got my attention.

Worth the time. 'twasn't too bad at all.

One more thing on The Pitt. There's a warning at the beginning of nudity in a medical situation. This is true. HOWEVER, one of the scenes was a lady giving birth. And yes, if you are wondering, it was a close up shot of the head emerging...bald head coming through a spider web.

Another thing I didn't have on my Bingo card for 2026.
