🏈 Answers to 10 SEC questions

3. How will UA replace its offensive linemen?:

The preseason love for Alabama must be based on its potentially formidable defense. That's because the offensive line, the heart and soul of last year's team, is an unknown with three new starters. Junior college transfer James Carpenter and freshman D.J. Fluker will try to replace left tackle Andre Smith, and William Vlachos looks to step in for center Antoine Caldwell. Don't kid yourself: Those are huge shoes to fill.

Hmmm.

All those early leads we jumped out to...had a little to do with the defense not allowing other teams to score.

Defense ranking: Tied for #3 in the nation at seasons end.

Rushing offense: 30th.
Total offense: 63rd.

What was that again...heart and soul of the team?

When has any part of the Bama offense been THE heart and soul of the team?

4. Will SEC quarterbacks throw the ball any better?:
The majority of SEC teams were dismal on offense last season due to poor quarterback play. Five teams ranked among the 20 worst offenses in the country. Florida's Tebow and Ole Miss' Snead are the only certainties as SEC quarterbacks this season. Michigan transfer Ryan Mallett could make noise for Arkansas. Most SEC teams, though, have no clear No. 1 starter.

Yes, there are some very average QB's out there in the SEC. But some of that can be attributed to having 3 SEC defenses in the top 9 Nationally and 7 of the top 30.
