🏈 Another Will Lowery article

eh, we've had plenty of walk-ons play big roles at Alabama. Wasnt Roman Harper or one of the other big safeties recently a walk-on? A walk on is more of a guy that didnt get any offers coming to prove himself. It takes alot of hard work and determination. Because I am sure the coaches may or may not have recruited you so they may have an opinion about you already.

Look at it this way he has worked his way to play over some guys that got all the press and more offers. Coach Bowden once said he would rather coach a guy with heat over a guy with talent. Because the guy with heart is gonna play every play and wont take any plays off.

In some instances, these kids were invited with the chance to earn that scholarship. Sometimes, the case may be that the kid was injured in high school and all schools backed off of him except for a school or two.

I came to the University as an invited walk on after I tore my rotator cuff in the 3rd game of my senior year. All of the other big schools backed off except for BAMA. Coach Jimmy Fuller told me to come on and I would be given a chance to earn a scholarship. I went soley on the "chance" to earn it. After two years, my grades weren't up to my parents liking so I gave up football to concentrate on my education. I lived the dream and it was soley because of that "chance". This is why you have these kids "walk on" to such a great University.
