So, the wifey and I were roaming the streets of the French Quarter Saturday, enjoying the energy that little enclave offers and walking along Decatur Street from Canal toward Central Grocery for a muffaletta.

As we arrived at Jackson Square, something caught my eye. Lined up on the western fence was a series of black-and-white portraits by one of the local artist. First in the series was a wonderful rendition of Marilyn Monroe. Second was Michael Jackson. Thus far two international stars, well-known by scores of millions of people.

Well, to my surprise, next in the line was none other than Coach Bryant.

Hard to imagine someone not seeing the sign of respect. So, I found the artist and asked why exactly was a little ol' college football coach included in his collection of such international stars. He told me he decided to paint a few for the Sugar Bowl and the influx of Alabama fans and sold out in two days. He did another batch in the spring and sold them out again. Said Coach Bryant was his best seller - even now.

Just great. Really.

If someone will tell me where I can upload a personal photo to post here I will do so with the one I took of the little collection.
