Be careful casting stones in the direction of Alabama coach Nick Saban, who's one national championship away from setting college football's all-time mark.

CBS Sports college football writers recently spoke with one-fifth of the 129 active coaches leading FBS teams entering the 2018 season to get their thoughts — anonymously — on peers for a "Candid Coaches" piece. They asked for honest opinions on everything from NCAA rules to social issues without fear of being outed.

Here's one quote from an anonymous coach to CBS Sports on Nick Saban, whom he labels a cheater:

If you had the No. 1 recruiting class in the country every year [you'd win like Nick Saban]. He shows up at every single game with a better roster than the teams he 's playing. … If you count cheating and getting the best players in the country as part of running a program, he's the best in the country. It's like saying an NFL coach is the best coach in the league if he gets 25 first-round picks every year."
Jealous much and any guess to which FBS coach would say something like this?

Without context, it's difficult to interpret if this anonymous coach is being sarcastic here or genuinely thinks Saban is playing unfairly. His ability to develop talent is second to none in college football and the numbers back it up.

Alabama's seven-year streak of landing the nation's top signing class according to the 247Sports Composite ended in February.

The Crimson Tide finished with the No. 7 class nationally, the lowest final ranking since Saban’s inaugural campaign in 2007.
Alabama is back on track for 2019 however and currently holds the nation's second-ranked class, according to the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Sour grapes!! Saban mentioned yesterday what the reasoning behind the ā€œESPN Training Daysā€ was. RECRUITING!!! He said that we take a beating on the recruiting trail by schools and their staffs throwing false narratives out there about UA. ā€œThey don’t care about you! You will never play! It’s just a football factory! They never have fun!
He also said that ESPN wanted to follow the team for the entire season but he didn’t want that distraction for the team.

You can definitely tell recruiting has been the focus. Bama Cuts and the new coaching staff focus on social media (seems there more active than the ones prior), and certainly the new ESPN 4 part series.

Coach Saban isn't afraid to change/adapt...that's just one of the things that makes him special. "Stagnation is death. If you don't change, you die. It's that simple. It's scary." -- Leonard Sweet

Sour grapes!!
I don't know what the motivating factor in a coach saying that would be. That's a logical conclusion. Hell, at times I still wonder if these "anonymous" coaches are actual coaches versus a GA they contacted.

One thing that drew my attention was the number of times we've seen and heard about players wanting to come to Bama but there's no room. I've seen the phrase "beating down the door" more times than I can count.

The two don't correspond. Players wanting to play at Bama but Bama has to cheat to sign said players?

Did you read the CBS article? It listed, by percentage, which coaches were overrated and James Franklin tops the list? A guy who took Vandy to what, back to back nine win seasons? Do I even have to mention what he's done at Penn State considering the sanctions he inherited when he took the job?

I would bet odds most of this "anonymous " shit is...a writer sitting down and making up ..."quotes or tips"... nobody said nuthin.... but fills in articles......
And gets people talking..... its called "BULLSHIT". Never have believed any of it

winners/champions always have a target on them......always have....always will

everybody wants to win
everybody want to be a champion

and if seems like one team is above the rest, then maybe they're just doing the right things at the right times to get the job done. so maybe if these other "coaches" stopped bitching/whining/complaining about what another coach or team is doing, maybe they can get their team to win more games; or more important games, as it were.

I believe it was Franklin at Vandy that publicly called out Saban by referring to him as Satan. Mark Richt wanted to imply that coach Saban cheats and referenced his friend Belichick over Spygate leading up to the "Blackout" game. But both had to eat their words, and a few actually thought it wise to come out and publicly apologize for their transgressions.

I've noticed not much get's said publicly about our head coach these days. Behind closed doors, in a cloak of darkness, anonymously speaking, who cares, that's just where all the coaches are dwelling these days who have learned to play it safe.

I'm in Mobile. Local radio had Jake Coker on this morning and asked him about this "Quote"....His response...."Whoever it is....is a coward." Nuff said.
Greeney said the same on Get Up this morning but went off on the subject for a minute or so...he was fairly colorful in his descriptions as well.

Unless the schools opt to run their own wagering site, the have no claim on anyone else's money
That goes against what the NFL is thinking, right? After all they want a piece as do the other professional leagues.

I don't know if you missed it but I saw where Fan Duel has lent their name, so to speak, to one of the resorts in W. VA. I've not looked at the site in detail. I wonder what they'll be looking for in return--the W. VA's and VT's of that state.
