🏈 Andy Staples: Richardson's solo dominance offers Tide hope for repeat title

Trent Richardson isn't a full-time starter when reigning Heisman Mark Ingram's in the lineup. But he might hold the key to No. 1 Alabama's hopes for a repeat title, writes Andy Staples.

It annoyed me to see the contributions of so many players go unnoticed for one person. For instance, I also thought McElroy, oline, and WR's played great, and without them i dont think wed win. Over half our points came through the air, and its not getting noticed like it should.

Norwood got his first TD, and is in my opinion the guy that takes over when julio leaves. millner is gong to be good while dre already is, and hightower is blowing people up.

BUT WAIT, our RB ran for 144 yards, all eyes on him.

the only thing we didnt do is throw deep to trent, omg at what comes after that.

4 recp.
46 yards.
11.5 per catch...

He had more all purpose yards than the total number of receiving yards by our WR's, combined.

Yeah...he deserves the spotlight right now.

I meant throw deep like we did in the spring. i dont mind him getting the potlight, but its as if he is the only one that deserves it from the medias standpoint is al'

in other news, i am in the ingram -over-richardson camp, just because he can breakout those field position changing runs more consistenly than richardson. still has a bit more shake, no doubt that richardson is stronger though

As much as I hate to say it, your offense looks damn-near unstoppable right now. Trent is getting the spotlight because of all the yardage (it feels like he's averaging 15/carry) but your offense as a whole is clicking.

I kind of think McElroy is largely overlooked nationally because he doesn't put up huge numbers.

I moved into the Trent is better than Mark camp last night. Mark is still great, but Trent is the best RB in CFB.

I wouldn't go that far. I think Coach Mac and Coach Saban see so much more of their players that they well understood well who the better of the two backs was last year. They are also very different backs...even this year. I just find it highly unlikely that Mark Ingram would have won a Heisman trophy and put up the amazing numbers he did last year being the second best back on the team. I do understand Richardson looked great last year and has looked amazing this year as well. Still, last year, to compare him to a Mark Ingram is a bit unfair considering the workload Ingram was under in comparison to a very fresh Richardson who was relief for Ingram during most of his playing time.

I thought that Trent's running style was almost identical to Mark's. The speed, the instantaneous cuts, the yards after contact. We have two amazing RBs, and Lacy looked pretty good, too.
