I'm not sure on this fact so I'm sure someone here can find it. But the last time we didn't have Dre we only had like 150 yrds that game right?

Also how does this affect our game plan and how much better has UTAH chances increased with this terrible loss to our team.

To me its kind of hard to look back on the Tulane performance this late in the season because Smitty was out and try to use that as a measuring gage for the Sugar Bowl. That Tulane game I think was more about the team coming down off the high cloud and not defined yet as a team. Now that they've faced adversity on numerous levels and have "meshed" over the course of the season, I think our performance will be better than the Tulane performance was. They have learned valueable lessons from each of our wins. The stakes are higher. The importance to the seniors and veterans is there.

At least that's my gut talking  . We'll see come Friday. I'm just tired of waiting and ready to see some Alabama football, Smitty or not! RTR!!

Our offensive line is significantly better than it was at that time. In that game we were somewhat ill prepared, Andre was not the only OL out, and we were still jelling in McElwain's offense.

It really is apples and oranges. Andre will be missed, but his loss will not have the impact that it did last time he was out of the lineup. We run to the right a lot more than we did at that point, and our passing game is improved. The TE is more involved...apples and oranges.

Marlon Davis left the Tulane game very early with a pulled hamstring as well.

So...early, early on in that game we were looking at Mike Johnson, David Ross, Caldwell, Boswell?, and Drew Davis on the line.

Literally, a line made up of 3 new guys and the 4th (Mike) in a position he wasn't used to playing.

Saying apples and oranges is being too kind...more like apples and pine cones.

On another Bama board i saw where they say now that Andre didn't do anything but a family member, possibly his uncle or his dad, took out an insurance policy on Andre through an agent before the Bowl game. Another agent who wanted Andre turned them in.

That story was posted on Tidefans by a moderator and their moderators are not known for their reliability. The story of the insurance policy is bunk and full of more holes than Tupac Shakur.

My father has written several policies for Alabama athletes and there is no way for a policy to have been issued without AS' knowledge and consent.

I'll fill Terry in on what I know and let him share what he thinks is appropriate.....if he'll pick up the phone and call me!

The point isn't the "insurance policy." It's who the contact was with, and what else he does for college athletes. I haven't read what was posted over there so I can't comment on what the jist of it was.

From what I've been told it revolves around the DeBartolo Group out of Tampa. Check them out. I'm not positive on that...haven't been able to get what I would call "verification." But, knowing that group and things they've done in the past...let's just say it fits.

As soon as I get a chance I'll give you a ring...give me a half an hour or so...
