šŸˆ And the Texas-Saban rumors continue to sputter along ..

Nick Saban Isn’t Going To Texas And I’m Sorry You’re An Idiot

@sk33tr made a joke the other day about people arguing about the etymology of the word "tinhorn / tin horn."

I'm going to bastardize the word for a minute here in the form of a question ...

How many of you guys have looked at the etymology of the articles/story here? It's laid out within the thread, how this "started," and there's some very key words that no one seems to have noticed. The original article in itself falls apart from the very beginning.

Dodd grabs it, Carvell grabs it ... how many others have ... but don't mention some things that left me shaking my head.

Set aside Saban and look at what Jones says about Miles. ā€œIt’s very real,ā€ Jones said of the Miles hot-seat rumors. ā€œIt was leaked. Only four or five people are aware of what’s going on with Les Miles at LSU. It was put out there on purpose, the fact that he’s in trouble.ā€

Come on now. Jones is number six? Is there discontent in Baton Rouge? Errr...the ENTIRE fan base of college football knows the answer to that one.

Another. When is the last time you heard something from the New York desk for CBS's coverage of college football that was actually up to date on what was going on with a program? Shit. This is the same guy talking about how maligned the Alabama secondary was when they were ranked in the top 10 in defensive efficiency and had just come off of a game with how many pick-6's?

Yeah. And let's not leave this alone for a minute ... when Jones starts talking about Texas, it's "my Texas."

In other news, it seems that a UFO was spotted hovering over the city of Austin last night. Uncomfirmed reports say that the craft was spraying some sort of vapor into the air while all of the citizens stood amazed and inhaled deeply. Also, Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone...their was never a moon landing...Elvis is still alive...AIDS was created by the US government...oh and Nick Saban is going to coach at the University of Texas next season....
:bandhead:

Most of us are proud of our home state, regardless of what some others may think of it or how long it's been since we lived there. I left almost 35 years ago but I don't hesitate when people ask where I'm from.
Trust me; Texans are a little more proud of there home state. When they tell someone they're from Texas they say it like we should be jealous about it. Btw did you know that everything in Texas is bigger; including assholes?

What about Dubose, and he free didn't he get fired from his high school job?:D

He didnt get fired, he was the head coach for Luverne High School (where I live now), he always had solid teams even took em to the State Title once and the Playoffs almost every year. Hes generally well liked around town, even comes into the restaurant my fiance manages weekly.

He (Dubose) lives down the street from me in Opp. He's the DC of the Opp Bobcats - I think mainly just to stay busy and in coaching ( I don't think he gets paid). Opp made it to the first round playoffs this year. I see him walking around the neighborhood and have spoken to him a few times - really nice guy and very personable.

I thought he completely retired, thats what he told the board when he stepped down in Luverne. Damn, not only was I on the sideline for the Elba-Opp game but I came over and stood as the coaches talked to the players after the game and I interviewed the head coach after too and I never saw DuBose though granted I wasnt actually looking for him.

He was probably the bald dude clapping.

I lived in Texas for 8 years from Tyler to San Antonio. (Corporate Nomad) Been to the Alamo, and enjoyed living there. Had to learn spanish in San Antonio or we couldn't fit in with the majority. Austin thinks they are cosmopolitan, but they don't quite make it. Their place in Texas lore is famous, but other cities in Texas think they are snobbes. Their football program is run by big oil companies and a few big donors. Even some from Alabama. Here is a list. It blows my mind

That was a great game...if you were an Opp fan that is. Yeah he was there. I don't know him that well, but from what I understand he very much likes to fly under the radar and stay unnoticed.

I've spent the year covering games from Red Level, Straughn, and Florala mostly so yeah it was an amazing game considering the crap I've had to sit through lol There were a few BS calls (or no calls for that matter) from the refs and Elba's play calling was mind boggling at times. It felt weird as hell standing on the field I used to play for Elba on interviewing the coach that just beat them tho, super weird.

Had I know before that he was working with Opp I would have at least tried to look for him.

Your fiance ... she have a membership here? I'm asking because of this ...

... typo? It's weakly. But more importantly, why would you say something about her in public? Like that?

I'm an idiot with my fascination with things like misplaced modifiers, etc.
