🏈 GAME THREAD 🏈 Alabama -17 vs Florida State - 31

It’s time for the AD to get the list of HC’s out and start planning for the future. What stood out the most to me was 90% of the time no effort. Also “no sense of urgency” by both players and the HC. It’s obvious the “standard” created by the goat is not even a part of the current Alabama process.

When Ray Perkins arrived, one of the first things he did (besides laugh at the fan base's expectations) was take down The Bear's coaching tower. That alone told me everything. Deboer has done the modern day version of Perkins taking The Bear's coaching tower. He has (figuratively) taken a copy of The Process and thrown it in the trash and laughed in our faces. Fuck him. He needs to go

I don't understand this. He was never going to win trying to be Saban 2.0 If his ship sinks, he's going to have to go down doing it his way. Doing it Saban's way though, he'd have been doomed from the start.

Also, even CNS and players from the CNS era (McCaren, Richardson etc...) seemed to think this team had turned things around. Perpexing.. I am hoping this team is closer to what folks were seeing when the dust settles and the shock of this poor performance is behind them.

Yep, was thinking about that earlier.... Saban himself has said it multiple times the past couple of weeks during interviews, and again this am on ESPN, that this team would be better based on what he's seen. There's no way he words it like he did if he didn't truly believe it.

With his knowledge you would not be able to fool him so he saw something. I think an issue here (beyond the OL/DL) is with this coaching staff. If they have a game plan and it does not work they are poor at adjusting and pivoting to something else that might work better. That is consistent with what I have seen from this staff last year and now in this game. Of course we were spoiled because CNS was a master at doing this.

Yes, I think that's a lot of it. There's definitely something in the team preparation that is lacking.

Also, Re: Saban and his thoughts on this year's team... I think most everyone here has at least some degree of respect for Josh Pate... don't forget, he went to Bama's 2nd scrimmage then immediately declared the Tide as his national champion pick.

Additionally, I know of 1 scout that visited during fall camp and walked away impressed with the team as a whole. That tells me, they either had a lot of smart people fooled or today's performance was simply some weird unexplainable one-off that was totally out of character for them. I'd easily believe the latter if not for seeing the exact same issues last season. So, just put me in the, people were fooled category.

Put me in the wait and see mode just like before. However CKD has lost any benefit of the doubt or belief about his ability to bring a well prepared team into games with any consistency. Also no ability to make adjustments or fix OL/DL issues.

I do think Josh is one that seems to be better than most but he is still a media guy. In the end with folks like Josh Pate it is still rat poison.

I'm not on the "fire him" wagon... 1) that's a waste of time since it isn't realistic. 2) I think he should get at least 3 seasons regardless.... an opportunity to do it his way, make staff changes if he wants, etc. I have my concerns, but he still has my support. And I do hope he figures it out.

Hr easily could have taken his audience into consideration and used that opportunity to support the program on national television. He also said he wasn't coming to Alabama and told recruits he wasn't retiring. Not telling the whole story does happen. And I understand this is in fact likely a different team and different mentality now that last year's issues are gone.

We will find out in terms of how this team responds. If they are who folks have said and apparently even CKD defended in the press conference we will see a much better performance in the coming weeks.

I don't see how they can "respond" before season's end...The team suffered a real trauma yesterday...Now they have PTSD!...They got beat physically and even worse mentally...This teams ego and swagger was crushed....Our big time players were getting bowled over and pushed around ....Even CKD was completely traumatized on the sidelines (all over his face).. this is kind of like what happened to the Miami hurricanes in the 92 championship game...Bama ruined Miami for a long time, afterwards...I don't see them getting over this soon...

You may be correct then again those were the days when it really mattered. I don't see that day anymore. These cats will just unload the plane in T-town and get into their Range Rover and go home. It really doesn't matter that much anymore. Except to the fans.

They look very pedestrian yesterday and undisciplined. I thought a trying point in the game came with PF's on Smith and Jackson against the QB.
Drives were looked to be stopped and the PF's extended the drives leading to points.
