🏈 Alonzo Lawrence "exploring his options" outside of Alabama's football program

From the READ Forum; Another transfer?

Alonzo Lawrence To Transfer?

Well, this is starting to suck. It's normal to expect some attrition each year, and especially so for a Nick Saban-coached team (given Saban's work ethic and intensity) but what began as a trickle is turning into a steady stream.

I played golf today with a couple friends. One an Ole Miss fans and one a MSU fan and they told me this was on their boards a couple days ago. It was the first time I'd heard it. Honestly, I have never been that impressed with him. He was a stud in high school, but I don't think he's made a very good transition. That being said, I still don't want him to leave.

We knew this was coming. Not necessarily him, but the numbers have to work out and attrition was a given.

ok... i thought this kid was supposed to be fantastic? i'm starting to worry a little bit about the attrition rate.

does every newbie expect to start right away these days?

I wouldn't go as far as saying "every newbie expects to start right away."

I will say that some understand what is expected of them—some don't.

Some understand what is expected from them and chose not to fulfill those expectations as well. There are two of the kids that are looking at transfers as of the last few days who fall into this latter category.

I think it has a lot more to do with BJ Scott and Dre Kirk than anything else. Lawrence is a good player but I don't think he can compare to BJ or Dre. (Not to mention Phelon Jones and Demarcus Milliner)

His transfer had been hinted at one at least one premium Alabama site for a few days now.

Well I know his time here has been short, but it seems he's not picking up the defensive playbook too well. It's not going to get any easier for him with all this talented depth coming in to compete against. Hopefully he'll stick around and try to better himself, he's still got the skill set to be a solid Corner for us.

This kind of doesn't bother me much with the number of Dbs coming in.

It has to happen I guess, your ability in college isnt determined by how good you are in highschol, its merely an indicator of how likely you will adjust to the college game.

At this point he probably had a year or two before he consistently saw the field. He probably just didnt see the hassle vs the reward as being worth it. Besides, we keep getting big talent each year anywho.

If he does go, good luck to him.

Really? People are worried about the attrition....

Been a LOOOONG Time since we had this much depth and talent, and people are worried?

I am not. :smile::a:
