🏈 All-time Scoring Records Watch: Adam Griffith

I'm just having fun. I hope you don't take offense.

I don't know our full depth chart well enough to know why others are playing ahead of others, and I don't know the players well enough to proclaim one a liabilty; however, over the years I believe the coaching staff sees enough potential in a young guy to throw him out there in a key position even though he's making mistakes. Cyrus was like that early. Eddie was like that early at corner. More than one offensive lineman over the years has fit that description, and watching a linebacker struggle with assignments and coverages is pretty evident. This year, I see Diggs out of position a good bit and needing extra help getting lined up. He's an explosive player with a bright future, but right now I can see him trying to feel his way out around the field. One of the more noticeable instances, at least in my mind, during the UT game, late third quarter when Hurts made a nice throw on a deep out route Diggs was running into the pattern area. Clearly in the wrong place, bringing an extra defender with him to the ball.

Here it is:

I'm not calling Diggs a weak link, but he's more rough than most of the players around him. He'll probably end up winning us a game before the season's out, and perhaps many before his time is done here. Just like Griffith, in my mind.

RTR,

Tim

No, I know you're having fun, as was I. I definitely don't take offense.

I remember Diggs running a hair below and behind Ridley, and was so surprised we completed that pass. I think the coaches shuffling him around most likely screwed with him a bit. Pretty sure he came in as a safety. He's gonna be explosive for us though.

All of the below is purely anecdotal and stats may easily prove me wrong.

But...

I've never felt more confident at 40+ yds than with AG.

Never felt less confident at 40 to 30 yds.

And never felt it's a sure thing at Xp.

Someone touched on the KOs. I've been impressed with his touch back rate, wowed by that onside kick, and befuddled at the random short ones.

All in all, AG has been a good one for us.

Man Griffith sure takes a lot of heat for his kicking but he really isn't bad. I mean we've had much worse (but we've also had better). Adam in his career is 67% on FGM and 99% on XPM PCT. Remember he missed his first 4 FG's last year and came back to hit 23 of the next 28.

This year he has made 8-12 and is perfect on XP with 40-40. Maybe we should stop scoring so many TD's...the kids leg might be tired! LOL

He ranks #36 of all kickers in the NCAA for 2016 and last year was tied for #7 in the country.

Remember him for this if nothing else.
