🏈 Alabama's secondary shows flaws

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The final score, as it so often happens, was misleading. Alabama thumped LSU, 38-17, at home on Saturday to remain undefeated. The three-touchdown margin was, on the face of it, telling. The top-ranked Crimson Tide looked dominant and deserving of its lofty position in beating LSU so handily. But when you're No. 1 in the polls, the stat sheet isn't the entire story. Not when the rest of the country is looking for a way to beat you.

I wouldn't bet anything on our corners against anybody including Auburn...I continue to be amazed at how weak we are at that position

Solid assessment, we've looked pitiful against everyone. Well said. :shake:

We've looked our poorest against two of the top passers in the SEC, have you considered that maybe it has something to do with better than average QB play? I personally don't see that in Marshall/Johnson, at least not to the extent of putting enough points up to win.

Cyrus Jones got abused pretty badly by Beckham in the first half, everytime he tried to get his hands on him and jam him Beckhamd would just slap him off and catch the pass. Cyrus did seem to get more comfortable as the game went on and I believe Saban said he seemed to get more confident. At least two of the balls Deion allowed he had great coverage and the pass was perfect. All the DBs played extremely well in the second half though.

Also, corners can look bad when they're expecting a safety to come over the top and that help doesn't arrive. I believe Belue was looking for Landry at least once on one of the long completions he gave up.

On the first long completion of the night, Belue was expecting help from over the top from Collins. You could see some discussion between the two. CNS also spoke about some busted coverage or missed assignments as well. Is does look bad on a corner when the expected help doesn't show!
