Alabama's McElroy finding his groove

Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy goes up against his old high school coach Saturday in North Texas’ Tom Dodge, who coached McElroy at Southlake Carroll High just outside Dallas.

Obviously, Dodge already knows what McEloy can do.

The rest of the college football world is starting to find out.

Beginning with that decisive fourth quarter in Alabama’s season-opening 34-24 win over Virginia Tech, McElroy is 31-of-42 with two touchdown passes and no interceptions.

HE broke a bama school record by completing 14 passes in a row...i would say thats finding a groove for sure.

He is smooth in the pocket.

Throws a nice deep ball and is very accurate in the pocket and on the move.

I'm still a big JPW fan but the way Greg is playing makes me ask the question, How did he sit behind John Parker for three years?

My guess is comfort and knowledge of the system. Greg looks way more in control out there(so far) than JPW ever did imho.

Not taking anything away from Greg, but he really has not faced adversity like JPW did.

JPW did have to go through multiple coordinators during his time. Greg is a leader no doubt. I like how he wants the play signal delivered quickly so he can get up to the line and make changes if needed.
