A potential SEC championship and College Football Playoff berth will be at stake for Alabama on Saturday at LSU, but for star safety Landon Collins, regarded among the nation's elite prospects at the position, there are some personal stakes, as well.

Alabama coach Nick Saban recruited Collins out of Dutchdown, La., LSU coach Les Miles' recruiting backyard, which is a task that would be as tough as LSU recruiting a prospect living within a half hour of Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Predictably, it was tough on Collins. Neighbors, friends, strangers and even his own mother weren't afraid to let him know about their displeasure with his choice to spurn the home state Tigers.

"I'm very pumped. Going home, playing against my home state," Collins said, according to a series of tweets from local media. "This game means a lot. I wanna show them that I picked the right team, the team that can dominate. That I picked the better team. ... It means a lot (that I haven't lost to them). I wanna be able to talk that trash. ... All of us New Orleans boys got bashed coming to Alabama as the rival."

Linebackers Denzel Devall and Tim Williams and left tackle Cam Robinson are three other key names from Louisiana on the Alabama roster, though Robinson is not likely to play because of an ankle injury. But nobody seems to be taking it more personally than Collins, a 6-0, 220-pound junior who has been scouted as the best in the Crimson Tide's line of top prospects at the position, from Mark Barron to Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Barron and Clinton-Dix were first-round draft picks.

Sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut. This would constitute one of those. We are in a ferocious playoff hunt and going into a place whose crowd can impact the game. We're also going into a game where the opponent is sporting a new found confidence from it's last victory over a top five team. The last thing we need is one of ours spouting off and giving them extra motivation.

I didn't see anything wrong with it. Landon said he wanted to prove to people that he picked the right school. The best school. Seems to me that he is trying to prove a point to those that bashed him (like his Mom for one) when he chose to sign with BAMA over the hometown team.

I don't see this as bulletin board material. Just stating an opinion based on his college decision. He didn't say they sucked or a crappy school and fans. Plus, I highly doubt something like this is going to make another team motivated enough to play at a higher level than they were currently aiming for. Alabama-LSU, Death Valley, prime time Saturday night... I don't think you need any extra motivation. If you do, you don't belong at either one of these programs.

Anything and Everything can be judged as bulletin board material. I personally like it. I think our boys have held back for a while. I want them to feel like they can't be beat, instead of the shaky way we played against Auburn, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss. It was like we were afraid to lose instead of ready to win.

I agree that this isn't bulletin board material. He said he wants to show them that he picked the better team, he didn't say he did pick the better team. I think he was proud without being boastful. Very classy, if you ask me...
