The Alabama Crimson Tide have dominated the Iron Bowl lately, going 4-1 against the Auburn Tigers in the last five chapters of this famed college football rivalry. And the oddsmakers don't seem to envision the recent power dynamic of this in-state classic changing in 2019 either.
The Crimson Tide have already opened as 13-point favorites over the Tigers, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, roughly five months ahead of the 84th iteration of the Iron Bowl.
Alabama appears poised for another dominant year after the Tide ran the table in the regular season before ultimately losing to Clemson in last year's National Championship game. Alabama is 46-36-1 against Auburn all time in the Iron Bowl, outscoring the Tigers by a combined 180-116 over their last five meetings.
The jury is still out on Auburn, who lost starting quarterback Jarrett Stidham to the 2019 NFL Draft this spring. Redshirt freshman Joey Gatewood looks to be the Tigers' likely replacement under center this season, and his individual performance could largely dictate the team's overall success in 2019.
While we could still see some significant line movement between now and this Week 14 game, it's difficult to imagine Alabama falling off some sort of competitive cliff before clashing with Auburn on Saturday, Nov. 30.
