The substantive reasons given in this article for Alabama's dominance in the rivalry are, in my opinion, the very reasons why Alabama should not play Auburn every year. Auburn's identity (if they have one) seems to consist almost exclusively of the ambition to beat Alabama. If we beat them, we have, to use the biblical phrase, "strained out a gnat." If they beat us, they have "swallowed a camel." I would be happy enough to send Auburn to the SEC East in exchange for Georgia. That would give us a more worthy perennial opponent and force the parasitic Barn to find a different host.
