Playing devil's advocate here, but do we really know how good he is? Yes, he shut down Clemson but the verdict is still out on them. The only other opponents have been Tulane and WKU.
Maybe it's more about his moves and what he can do and anticipating he'll do the same throughout the SEC. ??????
TerryP said:FWIW, after playing 3 games, he's already being mentioned in the top 100 draft picks for next year.

We've had former players watch this defensive line and say they have the chance to be one of the best in our programs history before all is said and done.

Last, but not least, you did mention his success against WKU. They were triple teaming Cody and he still made tackles in the backfield.

Another player you may be concerned about is Rolando McClain. Don't you get sick of the way 'Bama fans talk about how good he is?
What has he really done? Sure, he was the SEC Freshman of The Year, but that is just a title.
As 'Bama fans, we fawn over any old player that comes alone, it is crazy.
Is Rolando McClain as good as Lawrence Taylor, Dick Butkus, Jack Lambert, and Ray Lewis combined? No, I honestly don't believe he is. So how in the world could any 'Bama fan have the unmitigated gall to speak of Rolando McClain as if he is a good football player?
Geez, it is as if unreasonable 'Bama fans think they can discuss the players on the 'Bama team on a football message board.
I am with you, BamaDelta, we should all just shut up about T. Cody, etc... until they have proven themselves in the NFL. Only then will we, as a deluded fanbase, have the right to be proud of them.
BamaDelta said:Forgive me if I don't jump up and down on message boards and such. Just because I take a more cautious approach before we reach the meat of our SEC schedule doesn't mean I'm any less of a fan. I love this team and my university (anyone around here would probably tell you too much but that's a topic for another time).

When I read the article from the NYT the other day by Buzz Bissinger (or whatever his last name is) about Saban not smiling on the sidelines my first thought was "I wonder when Sandra is going to smile behind her keyboard?"![]()
I don't consider you to be pessimistic, but definitely on the cautiously optimistic side. Sometimes a little more than the norm, but it is understandable considering the past decade.
That is all good...because when those "big wins" come, you'll likely be happier than a lot of the majority even though they are ecstatic.

Funny thing is I approach life totally different than Alabama football. I'm not a worrier at all, and I always try to have a positive attitude. Even when life goes differently than what I prefer I try to chalk it up as a learning experience and a character developer. If I could only transfer that to Saturdays.
I get way too nervous about Alabama in those 4 hours every Sat. After the game I go back to normal, but those 4 hours are just crazy. Cautiously optimistic is putting it perfectly. I'm just waiting so anxiously for Alabama to truly be back. I will absolutely love it when consistent success finally arrives back at Bryant-Denny. If you were alive during the Coach Bryant era you know exactly what I'm talking about.![]()

Yep, I really wish these kids wouldn't talk smack...especially before the game. Just let your play on the field do the talking. I'm really surprised Saban is giving him such a long leash with the media.

Oh boy, here we go with the personal attacks. Let's try to be adults, Outlaw. I may not have a bunch of AuNeck friends like you do, but I am still a good person and try to be civil and nice.
If BamaDelta and I aren't allowed to have a slight, yet respectful, disagreement on a particular subject, you just let me know.
I will stop communicating with her if you are going to lay down the law and go into attack mode.
