I coached with a former HS teammate of Wayne’s during my time at Sylacauga. He said Wayne’s nickname was Joe Pound! My coaching friend played in the secondary at Gordo HS and he said that he never got many tackles because Wayne normally made the play and all he got to do was help Wayne up!!
