Alabama-Tennessee gives CBS big ratings win
Alabama and Tennessee met on Saturday in a traditional SEC rivalry game, and the nation tuned in to watch the Crimson Tide top the Vols 19-14.
For just the second time this season, the SEC game of the week on CBS was the highest rated college football game of the week on any network. Coincidentally - or perhaps not - the other SEC game to win a ratings week also included Alabama, it was the Tide's win over Georgia.
On Saturday the Tennessee/Alabama game drew a 4.2 overnight rating, up a whopping 50% from Texas A&M/Alabama last year (2.8) but down 7% from Auburn/Texas A&M in 2013 (4.5), according to sportsmediawatch.com. The 4.2 tied the previously mentioned Crimson Tide-Bulldogs matchup as the highest of the season for the SEC on CBS.
The Crimson Tideās win over the Vols outdistanced Ohio State/Rutgers on ABC (3.3).
