šŸˆ Alabama scrimmage report: Updating an injury, other notes from Bryant-Denny Stadium

A few observations from the second scrimmage of the spring.

-- Personnel groupings didn't appear to change much from the brief media viewing period before the game.

-- Cornerback Maurice Smith wasn't participating much in Friday's practice, but we was out there working without limitation Saturday.

-- Linebacker Dillon Lee was also on the field again after Thursday's DUI arrest.

-- There weren't any black jerseys for injured players beyond the usual for DeAndrew White and Darren Lake.

-- The quarterbacks looked sharp in warmups. I didn't see any wild passes, but there also wasn't a defense out there for those drills.

-- Nothing new with the receivers. True freshman Cam Sims continues to go second behind Amari Cooper on one side of the formation.

-- It looked like they were beginning to paint the field for A-Day. The lettering for "Alabama" was outlined in the end zones this week.

--Offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin must be borrowing clothes from one of the Tide’s offensive linemen because his shirts always look a size or two too big.

--The first offensive line group remained the same with Austin Shepherd at right tackle, Leon Brown at right guard, Ryan Kelly at center, Arie Kouandjio at left guard and Brandon Greene at left tackle. Tide coach Nick Saban said Greene is competing with freshman Cam Robinson for the left tackle spot.

--Injured players DeAndrew White (toe) and Darren Lake (pectoral muscle) walked the steps of the stadium. Considering how hot it was, they’ll definitely shed a pound or two of water weight.

--Linebacker Dillon Lee and running back Altee Tenpenny were at practice.

--Cyrus Jones and Bradley Sylve continue to lead the cornerbacks through drills.

--Amari Cooper and Christion Jones are leading the wide receiver group. After them, Chris Black and freshman Cam Sims appear to be the next two up. Sims has drawn rave reviews from teammates all spring.

--As reporters were being ushered out, Cyrus Jones was matched up with Amari Cooper and Bradley Sylve lined up across from Christion Jones. Barring any injuries, those could be the matchups we see on A-Day. It will be interesting to see if Sylve, Jones or anyone else can hold their own against Cooper.
