We are going to have to give CKD much more time than a yearā€¦ we are gonna have a new team next year..

He's going to get 3 years for sure unless he leaves or goes Mike Price (or God forbid Mike Leach) on us. Anyone suggesting otherwise is spouting nonsense.

Not sure on those two specifically. Best guess is they want better playing time opportunities. I don't believe it was #3 on either though. And I doubt either will get substantially more $ elsewhere, but that's possible if a team out there likes them (or needs them) enough.
I can see Dixon taking a hike due to the #15 coming back and some of the other guys ahead of him but a good TE would be in a great spot to play for Bama in 2025.

I was mistaken in that I thought Lockwood was a true freshman, but this is his second year. My standard is if you're not playing meaningful downs in your 2nd year then you must have a 2 year All American at your spot or you ain't IT.

Ok just wondering since heā€™s still unsigned. Then I guess Carrol will get a shot to prove himself at tackle. Any chance Poe works with the tackles in Spring too?
Bama was not going to play NIL game with Haywood. I think this kid will transfer out in a year anyway.

I don't know what they will do with OL.. right now It's too early to ask because I don't know if they're staying with what they have or looking into the portal.

Personally haven't heard that mentioned, but if tackle numbers are still light come spring they are going to have to get a couple of guards at least some work on the outside.

Hell we need him

This loops into the other conversations we've had over the last week or so. He's looking up the depth chart and one of the guys in front of him originally came from an FCS school and worked his way up through the portal.

I think that ship already set sail...
If that ship isn't already docked in Lake Michigan, it's definitely in the Straits of Mackinac. He had the option for Lake Superior, but ... a 'left.'

If you go back to the signing day thread you'll see no one expected him to sign. Looking back, I believe he was pretty well written off about two weeks before the signing period began.

I'm not trying to be a debbie downer, I truly just want to understand. I want to trust DeBoer and the coaching staff, that they know what the team needs and doesn't need. But from my perspective Bama has had 23 players enter the portal and only 6 coming in from the portal. The recruiting class has 22 coming in, and how many are graduating/leaving early for the NFL? I don't understand how the roster is at 85 or close to it. Also, Bama has let a lot of elite young talent leave, such as Jeremiah Alexander and Jaren Hamilton. Bama probably will have some really good starters next year, but how will they have depth? How will Bama survive the inevitable injury bug? This is what concerns me. Help me understand that CKD is effectively managing the roster and positioning the team for a playoff run this next season. I just want to understand. Thanks.

-23 leaving in portal
+6 coming in (so far)
+22 recruits coming in.

At least 1 of the outgoing transfers is a walk on.

Total roster count needs to get down to 105

Scholarships need to be at 85.

Losing a few to draft
Losing a few to eligibility expiring.

Seems to be ok to meā€¦

A few more holes to fill/wish list kinda players.
