Brandon / Terry (whoever else has insider info)
When the time is right, please tell who wanted to leave / asked to leave.

I doubt I will end up enough info on all of them individually to say. When the dust settles, I'll try to be as transparent as I can based on what I've heard. I'd say most will fit in a mutual parting of the ways type situation... no hard feelings either way where both sides benefit. The importing thing from my perspective, is to keep the ones you want to keep that might try to leave. Thus far, that hasn't happened. And there's some names that are likely to pop up where some may assume that's the case, but I'd warn against making too many assumptions. When it is over, I will say if Bama lost any major pieces that they wanted to keep (that I'm aware of). More than likely, my tone/wording if/when it happens though will suggest as much anyway.

So, that line was quite interesting. I've seen few people saying they expected lot of people entering portal and then suddenly, few people are saying it's less than expected. I think that's toeing the line.

I read somewhere last week that it wasn't a lock that Milroe is gonna go pro early.

I think he should. I really don't think there's anything he can really do to increase his draft stock. Really, he might hurt himself more if he stays.

As for the portal guys, bye. Don't waste a roster spot if you are not all in.

Has anyone heard anything on Lawson? Im hoping he comes back, didn't have the year I think/hoped he would, plus now with the injury..... might do him some good to come back. Also would be nice to have that experience in that room with Campbell and Jefferson leaving.

@Brandon Van de Graaff you mentioned before about NIL being ( paraphrasing here) tied to their game participation and that last check being with their final game. Are we one of those schools that has figured this out to sort of limit ā€œopt outsā€?

My understanding is players would have to play to get the last payment of the season but I'm unsure on how much the checks at UA are weighted in terms of money distribution like some other places (like if the last check is the largest % of all of them). But, I think this will be a bigger deterrent for schools for schools where guys don't have a lot of outside NIL $ coming in. At Bama, the big name players have different revenue streams.

Will try to get an update this week, but supposedly the injury threw a wrench into the decision, at least initially.

You shouldn't believe what you read these days most of the time.

"most of his potential NFL draft picks are planning on playing" - seems like the key word is most so some will smh.

That's how it was under Saban too. Agents put a lot of pressure on them (sometimes) to sit out. It may be because they are already dinged up, fear of getting hurt, or because they want them to go ahead an begin training. It can put the players in a tough spot in terms of a decision. Michigan is probably going to be without 2 or 3 of their best players for some of those very reasons.

I do not recall a bunch of opt outs happening under CNS. He seemed to be able to get them to buy into the idea that putting more work on film would be best for them. Go out and do well in the game helps their NFL Draft position. Not playing does not help you. That is what I recall...

One reason it hasnā€™t happened much is because Bama is always in the playoffs. But in the Citrus a few years back Diggs and Terrell Lewis opted out. I think everyone played in the Sugar against Kansas State. I wouldnā€™t say it was a bunch, just that it happened. But if theyā€™d been in non-playoff bowls more often, it would have happened more.

As of now, I'd be hesitant to believe he's staying but we will be in good hands if he does leave. We've got some VERY good back-ups at that position that people are unaware of. We won't see much of a drop off there.

I was under the impression that the bowl games and playoffs were part of a bonus program and they'd miss a check but not their regular season NIL check.
