The scheduling news continues for the Alabama football program. First, the 2017 opener with Florida State was confirmed and now the Crimson Tide appear to have the 2016 non-conference schedule complete.
A contract is in place to face Chattanooga as the fourth non-SEC opponent for the 2016 season, the Chattanoogan reported. Messages sent and phone calls to both schools were not returned Thursday.
The deal calls for Alabama to pay $500,000 to the Football Championship Subdivision school, the website reported. That falls in line with the$500,000 contract Alabama has with 2015 FCS opponent Charleston Southern.
Alabama's played Chattanooga twice in the Nick Saban era. The Tide won 45-0 in 2009 and 49-0 in 2013.
The date of the 2016 Chattanooga game has not been announced, but Alabama traditionally plays FCS schools the weekend before facing Auburn in the Iron Bowl.
With Florida State officially joining the 2017 schedule, Alabama has just one slot to fill to complete that season's games. It also faces Fresno State and Colorado State, leaving the customary spot of an FCS team open.
Future Alabama non-conference opponents
