Here are some takeaways:
--Running back T.J. Yeldon (hamstring) participated in some drills, but is still limited. Yeldon is wearing a protective splint on his right hamstring. On Saturday, Tide coach Nick Sabanprovided an update on Yeldon's status.
āHeās practiced the last two days and weāll continue to work him,ā Saban said. āHopefully, heāll continue to progress. He had a significant amount of time off but he seems to be making progress now, and Iām hopeful that heāll be able to make a contribution in the game.ā
--Reporters haven't been able to see any of the Tide's nickel or dime packages in a few weeks, but that changed today as the Tide worked on dime.
Cyrus Jones and Eddie Jackson were the cornerbacks with Jabriel Washington and Nick Perry at the safety spots. Geno Smith lined up at star while Landon Collins moved down to the money spot. Trey DePriest was the lone linebacker.
--Jones had his left thigh heavily taped. It's likely just precautionary because he went through every drill.
--David Cornwell and Cooper Bateman are serving as the scout team quarterbacks. Cornwell filled in to give the defense a scout team look of Ohio State's formations. Bateman worked with the offensive line and running backs.
--The first offensive line remained the same from left tackle to right tackle: Cam Robinson, Arie Kouandjio, Ryan Kelly, Leon Brown and Austin Shepherd.
--Freshman cornerback Marlon Humphrey is wearing No. 13 to simulate Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple (6-foot-1, 198 pounds). Cornerback Anthony Averett wore No. 12 to play the role of Ohio State'sDoran Grant (5-11, 193 pounds).
--Reserve tight end Dakota Ball worked off to the side with the training staff.
