Alabama-Mercer kickoff time, TV channel announced

No. 2 Alabama’s Week 12 home game against the Mercer Bears of the FCS on Saturday, Nov. 18, will kick off at 11 a.m. CT and will air on the SEC Network, the SEC announced Monday.

This will be the Crimson Tide’s first game on the SEC Network this season.

The Bears have posted a 4-5 (3-4 SoCon) record in nine games and recently lost to Samford, 20-3, in Macon, Ga. Mercer will next travel to face Western Carolina on Nov. 11.

This will be the third meeting between the two schools with Alabama owning a 2-0 record in the all-time series. The Crimson Tide last defeated the Bears, 20-0, back in 1940.

Mercer is entering its fifth season of football since the program was reinstated in 2013 following a 72-year hiatus. The Bears finished with a 6-5 (4-4 SoCon) record a year ago.

Next Saturday’s game will be the final game played in Bryant-Denny Stadium this season.

I want to offer up my two tickets to anyone willing to take their son or daughter to the game. I was going to brave it and take my two year old daughter to her first game at Bryant-Denny, but I am going to hold off one more year to do so as it's a long ways for an 11AM game from Athens, Georgia. These tickets mean a lot to me as I have spoken out about finally getting season tickets so I could raise my kids around Tuscaloosa on Saturday's in the Fall, so this is me wanting to give a little back (not a great game, but it's something). Let me know if you would like my tickets to go enjoy the afternoon watching our boys play with your youngin'. Thanks.

That a wonderful gesture!

I haven't been to a home game since 1989 when I lived in southern middle Tennessee. I have caught half a dozen away games during that time though. Living in Ohio and age are huge barriers of making the long trip to Tuscaloosa for a Sat. game.
