Alabama matches program record for highest finish in men's basketball coaches poll

Alabama vaulted 14 spots in the final coaches poll, published Tuesday, to No. 4.

Alabama finished No. 4 in the final coaches poll of the 2023-24 men's basketball season published Tuesday, matching the highest season-ending ranking in the coaches poll in program history.

Alabama becomes the only school to finish in the top five of the coaches poll in three of the past four seasons. The Tide finished No. 5 in the 2021 coaches poll, matching 1956 as the best finish in school history. Alabama then topped that mark by finishing No. 4 last season, despite losing in the Sweet 16, and matched that finish Tuesday.

The last school to finish in the top five of three coaches polls in a span of four seasons was Gonzaga, which made three top-five finishes in a row from 2020-22.

Out of curiosity I looked through the last half of the season and couldn't find two teams tied with the same number to totals points. I'll look later for sure...but I'm thinking it's the first time it's happened this year in the AP>
