First-year Alabama head coach Avery Johnson once again made his teamās case for being one of the 68 teams to earn NCAA Tournament bids after the 85-59 loss to Kentucky. He pointed to wins against four ranked teams this season, including against then-ranked Wichita State, Notre Dame, South Carolina and SEC co-champion Texas A&M ā three of which came on the road.
āIāll put our resume up against any team in the country or any of those teams thatās on the bubble watch,ā Johnson said Friday evening.
āI really love our resume. So whether itās NCAA Tournament, NIT, or whatever it is, Iām hoping that we can make it to some postseason tournament.ā
With the recent run of losses, the Tide (18-14, 9-9 SEC) quickly fell from among the āfinal four inā to completely off the NCAA Tournament bubble, according to most of the Internet prognosticators, including ESPN.
āFor us to do what weāve done this year has been (nothing) short of amazing in so many ways,ā Johnson said. āAnd thatās not an excuse, thatās just the facts. The numbers donāt lie.ā
