The annual ESPY Awards return for 2021, and this year, Alabama Football has a handful of representation.

The 2020 team grabs three nominations, while former Tide star Derrick Henry is up for an award as a member of the Tennessee Titans, ESPN announced Wednesday.

Wide Receiver and Heisman Trophy winner Devonta Smith leads the way in nominations with two. Smith is up for Best College Athlete for Men’s Sports. He will compete against Iowa Basketball’s Luke Garza, Gloire Amanda from Oregon State soccer, and Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Smith had 117 catches for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2020.

Smith also is nominated for Best Record-Breaking Performance after setting records for title game against Ohio State in catches (12) and touchdown receptions (three), and also totaled 215 yards. Alabama won, 52–24, their sixth title in 12 years, while Smith was named Offensive MVP of the championship game.

Speaking of the National Championship, Alabama is up for Best Team. The Crimson Tide went undefeated in a Covid-modified season, which included 11 wins over SEC opponents, and their sixth title since Nick Saban took over the program in 2007.

Former Crimson Tide star Derrick Henry closes out Alabama’s nomination, as he is up for Best NFL player alongside Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Aaron Donald. Henry had a stellar season for the Tennessee Titans, he rushed for 2,027 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2020.

Fans can go to ESPYS.com to vote for their favorite nominees until July 9 at 8 P.M. CT. The ESPYS will be broadcasted live on ABC on Saturday, July 10 at 7 P.M. CT.
