🏈 Alabama football: McCarron, Sims impress during first scrimmage

Kenny Bell finished with 7 catches. I wonder if he was paired with the same QB the entire time, possibly indicating that one of them has found their Go-To receiver.

Not sure what to make of both Richardson and Lacy averaging over 8 yards a carry. Is that a statement about the RBs or the Defense?

Bad day at the office? Coach Saban said "We didn't tackle, we didn't clean up, we didn't get people around the ball and running to the ball to be the kind of aggressive defense that we've been in the past." First of all,! Second, what then could he be talking about when he also said "Even though there were good thing on defense..."?

Glad to see Trey seeing some success, along with C.J. That LB corp looks to be set up well to reload year after year.

Freaky stat of the day: 11 carries for 25 yards for Dee, while Trent and Eddie are breaking off 8+ yards per? That has to be dishearting for a kid. I completely expect this to be proven the exceptions vice the rule for this talented young man.

Never pay attention to the numbers. Short yardage situations skew those figures.

Was that the case? I don't know. If so, do you have any insight on numbers that paint a more accurate picture? Also, it strikes me as odd that we would be dropping someone so young in a number of "'tween-the-tackles" short yardage situations. Does this hint that we may be using the young man in those type situations? I would have thought that someone with more time with Coach Cochrane would have been called upon, if for no other reason than to give our defense a stronger test (to be the best you need to play against the best).

Other than that Terry, how would you assess Dee thus far this spring? Thanks.

I've not paid attention to him that closely. The guy that has my attention this spring is Trey.

That said, I don't know what situations they had him in. I don't know what line, what QB, etc.

But, I also KNOW that you can't take numbers in spring ball and translate them to the field in the fall. Kenny Bell had a great day, but he won't be in our starting rotation. In our rotation? Likely.

We don't know what the coaches were looking for in its entirety. And, because of that, we can't take data like stats and translate that into anything right now.

Sims is impressing me more and more to be honest.

Anyway, im under the impression that calls during the sppring are very generic. As for hart, im sure it was more of a test of toughness and endurance rather than plays that would showcase his ability. Trente's first scrimmages also had lots of carries and low yardage.
