🏈 Alabama eyes store over possible infractions

I'll be so happy for the season to get here! Then some of this garbage will slow down. Seems that the Barners can't help but try and sling mud this direction since Cheezit got "bit@# slapped" in Destin.

If people wouldn't be so energized about when the letter arrives, Cam's suits, etc., we probably would have never heard a thing about this. In a manner of speaking, some fans have brought this on.

I used to enjoy college football so much more. Before internet message boards, Twitter, and Facebook. Before we knew about every little detail about every player and what they did. I'm not saying this because of the UA relation, but all schools in general. I never got involved in the Cam crap, or what happened at UNC, or the Ohio St stuff. Should some of this stuff be handled behind the scenes? I want to see the movie, not how it's made. The truth is this goes on everywhere. I honestly don't have an issue with some rich jerk buying a college kid a dinner, or some guy making a buck off a jersey. Now if its a car, a house, a vacation, or just flat out money being paid then its an issue. I work with a former NCAA athlete from an ACC school and he says this stuff is so common place but people are just getting stupid by allowing pics that end up on Facebook or Twitter. The NCAA needs to update their rules and policies. Times have changed and the regular fan is now seeing things that have gone on for years. And some of these issues are causing such a tear between football fans its ruining it for me. Stuff like this is why I gave up on various CFB message boards and even another Bama site. All it does is spur hate between schools fans. Can we just play some football?

To my knowledge the SEC provides an "allowance" that pays for things like that. Not to mention that Julio's family has never been exactly "poor".

You remember the NCAA quiz on this board a month or so ago? The link doesn't work now, but there was a question on there about providing suits for players. I actually got it wrong. It clearly stated that NCAA institutions could provide said amount of money for suits and any other required or necessary game-day/team function apparel. I had always wondered how every single player could afford at least one if not two or more suits. I could tell as some kids stepped on the airplane for away games that they had probably never worn a suit in their life before playing for Alabama. That particular quiz explained it all.

Mike Ward, University of Alabama Associate Athletics Director for Compliance

quote:

"Our review of this matter was a part of our normal compliance program. We routinely look at all situations of potential concern. Based on our review of this matter, we concluded that Mr. Albetar was in compliance with NCAA regulations. It is not a violation for student-athletes to sign autographs and it is not a violation for a business to display photos, jerseys or other items depicting current student-athletes. We found no evidence that any student-athlete received any extra benefits. "Due to the concerns expressed in our letter to Mr. Albetar dated March 31, 2011, we disassociated him from our program. As we always do in matters of this nature, we discussed this matter with the SEC Office. Because we found no evidence of any NCAA violation, we did not self-report a violation. UA will continue to be proactive in all areas of compliance monitoring."

If no wrongdoing was found why send the C&D letter?

Read the thread.

No wrongdoing on the part of players.

He did have a lot of stuff up in his store and that's been changed. He also had a video up on youtube, since removed, that wasn't "kosher." (I had to use that term...sure it went over a few people's heads.)

The C&D was just a formality in the legal word...it was just something that UA had to do and needed to do. End of discussion on why they did it:tongue:

The latest is that Travis has posted a picture of a kiosk from the Galleria claiming it was from the mall in Tuscaloosa selling signed Bama Jerseys. Funny thing is that Cam Newton's jersey is in the picture be sold as well. :no-no:

FWIW, UA sends out Cease and Desist letters all the time to various people and business... it isn't that rare of a thing. UA is like Disney when it comes to their brand.

yeah just ask Daniel Moore, still mad about that one.

That actually looks JUST LIKE the place i was talking about in the Galleria in Birmingham, EXACTLY like it. the place where the lady had no idea what a certificate of authenticity was. and yes she had Cam Newton and Nick Fairley jerseys like that too.

oh and by the way a local Tuscaloosa rapper completely raped this dude on his blog. outed on him that it wasnt the university mall and then posted pictures of Clay Travis sloppy drunk and doing alot of really DUMB and questionable stuff which caused Travis to delete the pics lol we need to stop paying this guy attention tho, this is what he wants.
