Alabama cornerback, once a starter, now suspended by team

Alabama cornerback Khyree Jackson is suspended by the team “right now,” coach Nick Saban said Monday.

Saban did not reveal more about Jackson’s suspension, which came after the senior was not in uniform the past two games against Ole Miss and Austin Peay.

Jackson transferred from East Mississippi Community College last year and became a starter late last season after injuries at the position. He started the national championship game against Georgia.

Jackson participated in Alabama’s first nine games this season, including a start at Texas. He took part in practices as recently as the Tuesday before the Ole Miss game, according to photos distributed by the school.

Alabama opted to start sophomore Terrion Arnold over Jackson this season, and then replaced Arnold with Eli Ricks until Ricks suffered a concussion on the first play against Ole Miss. Saban said Ricks was expected to return to practice Monday.

Alabama’s other scholarship cornerbacks are junior Jahquez Robinson along with freshmen Antonio Kite, Earl Little II and Trequon Fegans.
