The Crimson Tide posted its second-highest team score of the season, as Gabby Gladieux’s season-tying 9.950 on floor secured her third event title on the apparatus and fifth overall title of the 2025 season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In a top-10 matchup held in Coleman Coliseum, the No. 10 Alabama gymnastics team (1-2, 0-2 SEC) fell to the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners (8-0, 2-0 SEC) by a score of 197.550-196.300.
Despite the outcome, the program posted its highest attendance total of the season as close to 10,000 fans created the Crimson Tide's electric atmosphere. Looking at the competition, junior
Gabby Gladieux picked up her third event title of the season on the floor exercise – her fifth overall title through three meets.
For the third consecutive meet, a UA freshman posted the team's highest score on the uneven bars, as
Paityn Walker (9.875) served as the Tide's anchor on the apparatus. Meanwhile, on vault, Alabama tied its second-highest rotation score of the season (49.075).
Alabama Head Coach
"First of all, I think the atmosphere tonight was really electric. Our fans were amazing, loud and brought a ton of energy. I think they really created an amazing environment for our athletes. A lot of things were really exciting tonight. I think vault, bars and beam all had some really strong performances. On floor, we had some uncharacteristic mistakes. I have to say, when I think about our week of training that was plagued with sickness, and most people out of the gym for a lot of the days, I think it made sense that floor was the event that took the biggest toll, from energy to dead legs. Obviously, we want to be able to do better than that. We want to be able to handle those challenges better. There were some highlights, however. Chloe [LaCoursiere] getting out there on floor for the first time, I thought, was really exciting for the team. She had a little mistake on that first pass, but that will be a routine that is really impactful for our lineup. She continues to do a great job on bars and beam in that lead position as well.
"Again, a lot of great moments, but a lot of moments that we also need to learn from and get better at. I've said from the beginning – this team has to get better every single week, whether that's a mental approach or actual physical results, and we're definitely learning every week. This young team is continuing to learn more tools to help them thrive in tough, hard moments, and we'll continue to face those week after week. Going to Georgia next week, we'll have LSU [at home] after that. They're going to be tested against the best teams in the country, and any one of these teams could win a national championship. We've got to learn our lessons, put them into practice and just continue to get better."
