šŸˆ Alabama broadcasting legend to retire, Iron Bowl will be final home game

Senior Day festivities will extend beyond the playing field Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

While 24 players will see their last action at home, longtime University of Alabama broadcaster Tom Roberts will share the experience. It will be his last time in the home of Alabama football as the radio and television veteran will retire in January.

The story first appeared in last Saturday's game program and was published online Friday morning. Roberts confirmed his retirement Friday afternoon as he left his office in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Roberts, the director of broadcasting for the Crimson Tide Sports Network, started as a statistician for the football broadcasts in 1979. He went on to host the football pregame show as well as the weekly Hey Coach radio show.

Roberts said he was looking forward to spending more time with his wife and grandchildren.

I could be selfish and say that I don't want him to retire. Tom Roberts has been a part of Alabama football as long as I can remember, my memory sucks, but I won't. I wish TR the best. Have a long and happy retirement.
