šŸˆ AJ Article

ā€œI sat in on the interview process with him and asked him some questions myself,ā€ McCarron said. ā€œHe’s a very personable coach. I know he and Jake Locker were real close and spent a lot of time together on and off the field, and that helps me out. I like being close. I don’t want my coach just to be a coach. I want to know if I ever need anything that he’s there for me.

I didn't know that. While I'm sure Saban had his choice, I wonder if he allowed AJ to speak to CDN to get a feel on how the two would gel.

The bolded part leads me to believe he did get to speak to CDN.

Of note to me is that Saban let AJ speak to a media rep.

It's the motive of Saban, not whether he spoke with CDN I was commenting on.

AJ's been talking to media members for some time now. At least since fall camp of last year.

Speaking with Chris Lowe doesn't shock me at all. A few others that cover college football? I'd say he would turn some down simply because of their track records.

I misread your comment about wondering if AJ was allowed to speak with CDN during the interview. Now that I've read it correctly, you make a very good point.

Seems like I remember AJ being put off limits to the media very ealy in the season and Coach Saban commenting on his maturity level (or lack ther of) when speaking to the media. I know he was able to speak with them at the BCSNC game, but it is required that all of the players be made available at BCS games.

A lot of Saban keeping AJ from the media had to do with the questions he'd have ended up fielding about Sims, playing time, etc. I saw that as an easy way for Saban to keep AJ from those: effective way at least.
