🏈 AD Jeff Long is out, Bielema next?

To me, this dismissal is a bit of a surprise. Was Long just reluctant to let Bielema go? Can't see why he would be? Or is the judgement of Long's hiring practices?

@TUSKstuff you're right about Beilema. Dude's gone in a couple of weeks.

So if/when Bama beats down the barn, will the Gus Bus, broken axles and all, head towards a homecoming of sorts?

He is terrible. His record speaks for itself.

Bielemia.....awful job.

The question that I would like answered is why Bert got away from what made him/them successful when he was at Wisky.

IE: When Pittman left UArk for UGA in '15 where the offensive line coaching? When he was coaching the Badgers we saw a power running game behind a veteran offensive line. Where did that go?

He didn't do well at Arkansas but he did at Wisconsin. In my opinion it's quickly falling into the category of hyperbole to call him awful as a head coach as a definitive statement.

You touched on it. Some of it was out of his control when Georgia pillaged his OC and Pittman his great offensive line coach. I think Bielema was trying to be more balanced and offensively dangerous and we all know what a dangerous dance that can be. With his new OC, Enos would much rather airmail his packages than go ground and pound and I think they lost their balance and identity. Arkansas looks much more like a team that throws to set up the run rather than Bielema's traditional approach. It's on the HC, he lost his way.

Dont know how many times you have to lose 50+ something to a little before you aren't considered doing a BAD....really BAD...job...
Losing a line coach justifies it??????.......okkkkkkk..not to me but okkkkkk
His winning percentage at Wisky was right at .750. That's not a bad coach just a bad fit when we add him to UArk.

It's a tale of two cities.

You never know how the new AD is going to react either. He may take an early approach like Byrne did with Goff and plan on waiting and evaluating a year.

But 750 at Whisky...a steady diet of Northwestern , Illinois, Nebraska...the new Nebraska...Iowa, Minnesota....plus 3-4 weak NC games... ....
That aint Bama, Lsu, AU, the old Ole Ms, MSU, AnM....
I doubt he did 500 vs those...and Arkansas has fhe state to themselves....not great HS football...but..just saying...and 4-5 mill a year?????
He may not be a bad HC....but he has done. A bad job...
And I kinda like the guy...too...gotta go....wish he would stay

And I still don't believe you're giving him a fair break.

Consider, after he took over from Petrino (can't exclude JL Smith either) he was left with what for defense? Not a thing. Petrino didn't believe in it at Arkansas. What was he left from the offense? A team built on passing and he's a smash mouth coach.

I don't disagree his job at Arkansas looks bad on his resume. But, I do believe that statement comes with more than a handful of caveats. Heck, we haven't begun to touch on the injuries he's seen each season (most of them before the season actually kicked off.)

I'd suggest putting him at a school like LSU and we'd see a very similar team(s) that we've seen with Miles.
